Verne Troyer Assaulted By TSA
Is there any reason in the entire world to think that Verne Troyer is planning to blow up an airplane?
Disgusting violation of his dignity, body, and Fourth Amendment rights by the TSA thuggos, chronicled at TSA News Blog by Lisa Simeone. Here's the photo, taken by his manager:
Simeone writes:
Troyer tweeted a photograph that his manager, Ray Hughes, had taken at the airport. I'm surprised the TSA didn't surround Hughes and scream at him that he wasn't allowed to take pictures, which is a lie TSA clerks often spew.
Other celebrities violated by the TSA include William Shatner. This is security? Or a way for thuggish peons to have it over on somebody they'd otherwise only see on TV?
Well, he IS known to hang out with an Evil Genius.
It's not like they're looking for, oh, single Islamic Males between the ages of 25 and 35, that would be RACIST. More importantly, it would be EFFECTIVE, and we can't have THAT, can we ??

They are checking for sharks with freakin lasers.
They have hit other celebs, many are sci-fi actors.

It's not immediately evident what the TSA officer is looking for re Troyer's scooter. Shatner not wearing a belt with his pants is not the TSA's fault. You ought to develop a more elevated avocation that repeated assaults on petty civil servants doing their jobs.

petty civil servants doing their jobs.
Wasnt that the Nuremberg defense?

You're equating security screeners at airports (none of whom have ever caused my kith and kin the least bother, btw) with SS camp guards?
Art Deco at July 31, 2014 12:29 PM
I don't agree with the searches in general but if they are going to happen they should happen equally. There should not be a "Oh that is so-and-so don't search them." Maybe they have converted or maybe that is an imposter.

People accuse me of siding with the government, but oh, well.
When did we decide that government intervention at the airport was inappropriate? Before we gave them the authority to regulate the airways with the FAA?
When did we decide to go along with the searches? Obviously before they started using metal detectors.
Verne doesn't look too happy, actually. He actually looks like he just got goosed.

Art Deco. . .
You have a point, there is no appropriate comparison between the TSA and SS Camp Guards.
The SS was composed of trained, dedicated (albeit highly misguided) professionals.
The TSA makes Deputy Barney Fife look like a paragon of Law Enforcement, in comparison. . .

I've dealt with TSA agents at four airports and none of them did anything that merited criticism. You can argue there are more efficient means to execute the tasks they perform, but your argument is with upper management, not with frontline employees.

"I've dealt with TSA agents at four airports and none of them did anything that merited criticism [other than fucking the constitution up the ass]
Fixed it for you. And the SS guards started somewhere

You are beyond parody.

You're equating security screeners at airports... with SS camp guards?
Harsh, but there is a principle here of bestowed authority with weak feedback mechanisms.
none of whom have ever caused my kith and kin the least bother, btw
Lame.
your argument is with upper management, not with frontline employees
We still depend on the execution and judgement of those in the field.

There is no principle here. There is merely arrested development.

Yes, absolutely. The guiding principle is the same; it's only a matter of degree. As I said about Hamas in the other thread, their stated goal is to exterminate Jews worldwide. The fact that they lack the means to do so does not excuse it. The TSA is engaged in a long march, and we can expect things to get worse until someone make it their business to stop it.
(Actually, a better comparison for the TSA would be the Brownshirt hooligans. But the principle is the same.)

Most of the brownshirts became SS.

Art Deco, are you familiar with the works of Orwell and Kafka? Have you dealt with bureaucracies at local, state, and federal level? Have you dealt with corporate and non-profit bureaucracies?
You seem too worried about checks on power.
doombuggy at August 2, 2014 5:54 AM
Seems to me that Art Deco wouldn't have a problem with the SS. They'd make sure he wouldn't need to bother with that thar fancy edumacation crap.
Art Deco, you clearly belong to the Nanny State, and prefer the government and media do the thinking for you. You do realize that it's only a few steps from wrongful search and seizure to wrongful arrest, right? Of course you do!
"We still depend on the execution and judgement of those in the field."
We do the same with police. Look how well that's working out!
"You seem too worried about checks on power."
He's assuming they matter, and are not a huge joke on the taxpayer.

I do not know if you knew this, but the paparazzi hang out at LAX to catch the likes of Katy Perry, Emma Watson and Emma Stone with their shoes off, or being patted down by TSA agents.
It's a show.
