Durn Israelis, They Refuse To Just Lay Down Their Arms So The Palestinians Can Slaughter Them All
Ahdaf Soueif has an op-ed in the LA Times, "Dead Palestinian children in Gaza tell story of impunity."
No, they tell a story of a people, living right by another set of people, who want that set of people dead.
An excerpt from the piece:
Israel requires the Palestinians to recognize Israel as a "Jewish state." That is, to accept that the Palestinians living in Haifa, Jaffa, Nazareth, Acre, etc., will always be second-class citizens in their country. Israel ruptures logic; it wants to be a democracy practiced on the basis that some people are "chosen" and others are not. And if that won't work, then it wants the "not chosen" to disappear.
Bullshit.
The Israelis live in peace with the Druze and Christian Arabs who, no, are not treated as "second-class citizens." Of course, they don't have the likes of the Hamas Charter, calling for the death of all the Jews, and they aren't bombing anyone. Imagine if Sherman Oaks were bombing Brentwood and you were a Brentwood resident. Would you, like, fight back and all?
Keep in mind that line, "If Palestinians were to lay down their guns tomorrow, there would be no war. If Israel were to lay down its arms, there would be no Israel."
A list of the numerous Palestinian terror attacks since August of 2011.
When God choose a piece of land he decided that a dried up shithole represented the divinity of His creation better than the lush landscapes of other continents. And that God, with His omnipotent wisdom on real estate has gifted it to a "chosen" people.
Whether these "chosen" people are the descendants of a prophet and his legal wife or the descendants of the servant he fucked is at the core of the issue.
Both sides are adamant that the dried up shithole is theirs because of its Divinity & Holiness.
Meanwhile the only reason I support Isreal is because they managed to turn that dried up shithole into something habitable through the use of modern technology.

And quite frankly, Hamas and its ilk would turn that piece of desert back into unproductive desert if they had control of it, because they are so into the will of God that nothing else matters.

There are people in this world who have unreasonable demands, instigate conflict, create their own problems, and are just bad neighbors. At the risk of seeming heartless, my sympathy is fairly well nonexistent.

"And quite frankly, Hamas and its ilk would turn that piece of desert back into unproductive desert if they had control of it."
This we know because they did exactly that in Gaza. We've all seen the stories about the factories and greenhouses left to them by the Israelis, which they vandalized and scrapped. Don't forget that the Hamas charter calls not only for the destruction of Israel, but for the extermination of Jews worldwide. The fact that resource limits prevents them from carrying out that threat does not excuse it.

Israel has an established right to exist, by right of conquest, if nothing else. That's the oldest right, BTW. The basis of American independence, among many others.
Name one county on the face of the earth who will make peace with another country who has vowed genocide against them.
Name one county on the face of the earth who has shown such restraint with another country who has vowed genocide against them.
America is not that country. If America were Israel, we'd nuke em all. Out of self preservation.

I lived in Brentwood for ten years. We could take out the Oaks pussies blindfolded, in a Santa Ana wind condition, during a quake. They're weenies.
Will Israelis ever get tired of living someplace where they have to explain this all to us?.. Decade after decade, since before I was born (which wasn't recently)?...
Because the land is "holy"?

Then what's all this shit in my twitter feed?
This conquest is looking somewhat incomplete....

That piece is nothing but a piece of propaganda shit.
Yea, I get it, some folks feel that Israelis, especially European Jews, are "foreigners" who have stolen their land.
It is time to get over it.
However, has anyone ever tried to build up Gaza or the West Bank instead of bitching and moaning about the other land (i.e. Israel) they "lost"?
Have any of the Palestinian so-called leaders done anything to actually make their people's lives better? Or have they all been too busy running off to Swiss banks with foreign aid to notice they haven't done shit to build up their country?
The author states that a "Jewish" state will force non-Jews to live as second-class citizens. Well, at least they are citizens with recognized rights instead of non-Muslims in "Islamic" states who don't even have the right to life.
Lastly, that an American newspaper would bother to print such tripe just shows how low journalism has sunk. At least they did label it "op-ed" instead of presenting it as "news" which is what they usually do.
