I Couldn't Look At The Tragic 9/11 Photos Another Time
What I do think is important to look at is the absolutely barbaric behavior of Palestinians cheering the deaths of thousands of American civilians, guilty only of arriving at the office on time.
A friend's husband -- a guy in finance, who worked at the WTC -- is only alive today because she had a morning production meeting, so he had to take the kids to school that day.
Here is a photo Professor E. Stringer Keefe found at Ground Zero. Somebody tweeted that they are all Cantor Fitzgerald employees and that the two girls on the right are sisters. That person also tweeted that they are all dead.

It has always bothered me that such a large percentage of Americans appeared to enjoy reliving the tragedy – as if they were celebrating being a victim.
The absolute best way to deal with the attack would have been to rebuild the twin towers exactly as they were. Right now, every extremist can point to that location and crow, "see what we did there?"

One of the things that happened, after, was that people were afraid to get on planes and travel.
So I figured the only real thing I could do was to take the (vanishingly tiny) risk of going on a short unplanned vacation, and taking a plane to get there.
Just to prove to myself, if to nobody else, that I wasn't going to let them scare me. It still feels good to know that I gave them the virtual finger - even as small a gesture as that was.

Flbeachmom; I did something similar, at least in my mind I was doing the same thing. I wasn't going to let them scare me either. So, on the morning of Sept 12, I caught my usual 5:00 AM train into New York to go to the gym before work.
Our train parking lot is a dirt lot without marked spaces; folks usually just start parking near the station and the cars park out from there. I was usually among the first 2 or 3 cars parking (who else in their right mind gets up at 5:00 AM to go to the gym?).
Except that next morning, while I was the first to arrive I wasn't the first car there. I had to count them; there were 26 cars scattered around the dirt lot. 26 of my fellow commuters, folks I may have nodded hello to, shared small talk with, shared a seat on the train with, even complained about the lousy train service to when things were running late - didn't come home that night before!
I found myself scanning faces on the train commute for several weeks looking for familiar faces, although many of them I didn't even know their names I would remember a face and hoped that they were alright.
And now, it bothers me that we have ground Zero still being rebuilt. It took the original World Trade Center less than 10 years to be built - and that was TWO main towers. The new 1 World Trade Center is one tower and it has taken longer to build; and isn't finished yet.
And it bothers me even more that we have a President who would rather go golfing than deal with the terrorist threats abroad.
To me the phrase "9-11 Never Forget" means 9-11 Never Again; by any means necessary. And, no, I don't mean we give up our rights; that doesn't protect us at all. What I do mean is that we fight and KILL every terrorist possible, no matter who or where they are. I do not want to be made a refugee in my own first-world city ever again!

I know! As Osama Bin Laden said on TV yesterday ... oh, wait.
Never mind.
