13-Year-Old To Be Criminally Charged For Acting Like A 13-Year-Old
The teen years are pretty much the Age of Idiocy. Not always, but a lot of the time. This is partly why there are so many restrictions around teens driving.
Well, a 13-year-old boy in Maryland kissed a 14-year-old girl on a dare and now faces second-degree assault charges.
Robby Soave writes at Reason:
It's of course true that every 14-year-old has the right not to be kissed. I'm not saying the boy's transgression should go unpunished. What I'm saying is this: he should not be charged with assault. He's 13. Thirteen-year-olds do stupid stuff. They screw up. And when the consequences of their actions are as minor as this, it's better to reprimand them in a manner that does not involve the criminal justice system.By all means, give this kid detention. Make him apologize to the girl. Tell his parents to teach him better manners.
But don't charge him with assault. That would be a far greater crime than a stolen kiss.
I hit a girl over the head with a dustpan in third grade. She was supposed to be sweeping up with me and wouldn't do her part, so, CLONK!
Luckily, I only got sent to the principal's office, and he only called my mom, not the cops.
The feelings of shame from this ended my violent streak for good, and without a criminal record. (Now I'm just hostile.)
He's a male. Why should he have to wait to get to college to have his life ruined in the War on Rape Culture?

I'd like to be on that jury pool. I'd never make it to the jury, you see, because during the Q&A, I'd ask the prosecutor if he'd lost his/her freakin' marbles.

Jury nullification -- a form of love of sense, justice, and the Constitution!

"Charged" is not the same as "prosecuted." The DA may very well decline to take this idiocy any further, while asking the cops if they've lost their freakin' marbles.

And 'kicked in the crotch' is not the same as 'head chopped off'. The kid should not have been charged in the first place.

Hey, what better way to teach the kid that his station is not high enough for him to approach women?

"I hit a girl over the head with a dustpan in third grade."
Yeah, but you were a girl, made of sugar and spice and everything nice - not some dirty, predatory boy who you can just treat any way you like./s
The hatred of boys in our schools is so thick you could cut it with a knife.

"I hit a girl over the head with a dustpan in third grade. "
But that was entirely different. You were a girl, made of sugar and spice and everything nice - not some dirty, presumptively predatory, disposable little boy.

We had "kissing cooties" and we chased boys to kiss them on the playground. They liked it. When we were older, 3rd grade, we had boys vs girls. The boys were in a Fort called Sticky Ball Land named after the Sticky Balls on the bushes in there. I was once captured. The Captain of the boys bitch slapped me.(Assault!). I think I scared them or fucked them up some how for their abuse (I recall some kicks that were...strategic) , but it was playground based. No one told the adults because it was our game. It was a powerful moment for me when they went over board and I gave them justice. Boom! Honestly, they were scared of themselves when they went over board ( dramatic bitch slap - circa 1978). I will never forget when I was slapped during my interrogation that they were like "Whoah. This got to real" and I was all "this is ABOUT to get real." ( good times!!! They knew that THiS girl could kick their ass. Fun. )
We would all be in jail now!
I also made (ultimatums!) boys roll down hills to prove their "love" and other tests. Really, you love me? Roll down this paved hill! I had no idea I was such an abuser. I was much nicer after like, 11.
