But then I kept on reading further and was dissapointed that she just got a slap on the wrist as usual.

Sixclaws,
Here in rural Texas the sheriff might have thanked the woman for not shooting her "cheating while she's delivering his baby/throwing her and baby out on the street" boyfriend (probably his cousin by marriage) and asked if she wanted some help "discussing" the situation w/him.
This is problem w/lists. No one truly watches those that decide someone should get on the list. A "sex offender" list should only have those persons on it, not someone sending "revenge porn".
(Not going to discuss her cognitive abilities at all. Her actions - past & present- say enough.)

About Old RPM's Wesleyan story, the student is probably objecting to this passage:
When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.

The New York Times writes an editorial piece on guns, hilarity ensues:
There’s just one teeny, tiny problem with that paragraph: bolt-action .50-caliber rifles were never covered by the federal assault weapons ban. There’s no possible way the expiration of the assault weapons ban could have led to the proliferation of a weapon that was never actually banned by the law, but editorial page editor Andy Rosenthal has never been one to let simple facts get in the way of an unhinged screed.
...
And then there’s the fact that a .50-caliber rifle has never been used in a mass shooting in the U.S. Never. That’s probably because those guns are hugely expensive (potentially costing $10,000 or more, not to mention the cost of ammunition) and difficult to lug around given their size and weight (the gun is nearly four feet long and weighs 24 pounds with a loaded magazine). But this is the gun-confiscating New York Times we’re talking about. Expecting its editorialists to understand the objects about which they are editorializing would be a bridge too far.

This says a lot about a bunch of stuff I think is bat-shit crazy in Sweden and Europe but what can you do except push back on stuff here in the US.
Remember DHS is not sure that reviewing an immigrant's social media posts is "appropriate".
"Ronny Fredriksson, spokesman of the security company Securitas, said that the demand for home alarm systems first exploded about six years ago, when many local police stations were shut down and police moved to the main towns. This, he said, could result in response times of several hours.
“More and more people now employ the services of our security guards. Shopping malls and stores in the city come together and hire guards. We are kind of like the ‘local beat’ cops.”
“The problem is that we too need the police. When our guards catch a burglar or a violent person, we call the police but the response times are often very long. Sometimes, the detainees get violent and quite rowdy. On occasion, the police have told us to release the person we have apprehended, if we have his identity, because they do not have a patrol nearby.” …
This, from the president of Oklahoma Wesleyan University, wherein one might assume religious topics are kind of the name of the game.

At first I was excited (not that way) that justice had been served:

Don't send an all white-male sales team to Sam's Club. The CEO won't talk to them.
