This is why I never bothered politicking for awards... I'd rather just have good, high-paying work while other people are going for bad dinners in uncomfortable clothes.

Oh, Florida! At least hasn't collapsed. Does the phrase "measure twice, cut once" ring any bells in Miami?
When the $2 billion Miami Intermodal Center (MIC) started construction in 2011, the plan was to have its central station serviced by long-distance Amtrak trains.
Construction finished in 2013 and while three different rail services currently operate at the station, Amtrak is nowhere to be found. The reason? The platform built for Amtrak is 200 feet too short for Amtrak's long-distance trains.

There is a reason why Florida has its own Fark tag.
When Jacksonville built its new jail in 1988, the blueprints did not include doors on the cells. The city had to amend the contract to have doors installed.

You have to admit that is impressive IRA. To get 0% replicability almost shows intent. You'd think at least one would get in through dumb luck.

First Brokaw, now this. ("According to this survey (N = 8,077), women are more often sexually harassed in gender-balanced/non-STEM fields than in male-dominated/STEM fields") ~ Crid at April 27, 2018 2:43 AM
I think that's mainly due to the fact that a woman going into STEM has to be serious about the field and cannot be a naive waif. She learns to handle herself quickly and prove her worth, or fades into oblivion (as do men who cannot prove their worth).
Whereas as woman going into a creative field is welcomed by the men and told how wonderfully creative (and beautiful) she is, as those same men set up to pounce on her and the other women in the field throw her under the bus so they can get out from under the men pouncing on her.
Add to that, men don't go into STEM thinking they'll meet lots of women at work. Men do go into media, communications, and art with at least an ancillary consideration about meeting women at work.

Doing so would have been political suicide. Her entire thing (Commissioner, friends wit Mayor) is I'm so politically connected/powerful you should voluntarily dismiss all charges. I'll repeat this until you get the point and drop charges. Still not doing it, ok Do it or I'll go after your jobs. All without exactly saying it.
It was at my teenage horniest that I boycotted grapes. I didn't work out this well.
