The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, which doles out Oscar awards every year, finally expelled movie director Roman Polanski from its organization — 40 years after he admitted to raping a 13-year-old girl then fled the country. Way to go, Hollywood.
The anticipated executive order is likely to mirror a draft that was leaked in February that would broaden the legal protections for individuals and entities who seek religious exemptions from certain federal laws.
Better late than never, I suppose.

Let's not forget that Hollywood defended Polanski for 40 years, even giving him an Oscar in that time.
Some of the biggest names in Hollywood happily worked with him:
I'm leaving his pre-conviction stuff out of the mix, but I'm pretty sure "everybody knew" he was a creepy guy before the conviction.
And, now, only when Hollywood wants to expel Bill Cosby from the Academy, does the inconvenience of Roman Polanski's membership merit action?
