I remember suggesting that if ABC should consider continuing the "Roseanne" series without Roseanne if having her is so problematic. Perhaps have her character die and seeing how the Conners manage without her.
I posted this yesterday, but it was very late, and since I don't normally follow obsolete link threads, with rare exceptions, you might have missed it.
"The surprising reason people change their minds: We usually believe that our opinions are stubborn and fixed. But new research shows that our views, even on politics, are changing all the time – just not for the reasons you’d expect."
On the salad kid, yes I can believe it. What is unbelievable about a kid being able to dial 911? The only real question is are the parents going to be billed for wasting emergency services. For one off events people usually aren't billed. But for repeat offenders there is usually a charge. But 911 services get a number of improper calls. Old folks with dementia, people high on drugs, and even people just being stupid.

Ben, you're joking, right?
What I meant was, while I'm well aware that ADULTS make all sorts of stupid 911 calls (there's a whole book of such calls; I think the one I read was by Leland H. Gregory, unless there's another one), I tend to give those people the benefit of the doubt; I assume they have real mental problems - or are just plain narcissistic.
Kids older than 10 are another matter; I don't expect them, most of the time, to be mentally ill, and I DO expect them to be scared enough of their parents not to make such outrageous calls, especially when the parents are right in the house!

I wonder which news outlet served as an inspiration for this comic strip
Crappy parent exist. No great secret there Lenona. And there aren't any consequences for the kid. He isn't mentally impaired. He doesn't pay the fine. With roughly two million people between 10 and 15 in Canada what are the chances one of them is doing something dumb?

Gen Z is going to save us from the Millennials! Sexy edition
I'm just saying I can't remember hearing of ANY 911 stories, before now, involving an arrogant kid of that advanced age. Especially from Canada, which is supposed to be so civilized!
Yes, I know the media will always seek out stories like that...

It is a story specifically because it is incredibly rare and sorta cute. But you can't worry about one in a million or one in a billion events. It isn't cost effective to prevent them and it might not even be possible to prevent them.
Also using the news to tell what are real risks doesn't work. My sister is all wigged out about school shootings and how dangerous things might be since her oldest is just starting public school. But guns in schools aren't a significant issue even though they've been on the news. Instead having your minimum wage bus driver being high and getting into an accident is a far more significant issue. Especially since there are no safety devices on those buses.
The news is pretty much useless in figuring out danger. Instead you need to look up actual statistics.

It seems someone at ABC had the same idea.
