Let Them Eat Steak!
I love these French steak knives I have -- by Laguiole -- and they come in these groovy colors as well as all-stainless and wood-handled. On Amazon, only $16.75 for six (vastly cheaper than in France) -- and a little more for the other kinds of handles (the matching steel and woodgrain ones).
Oh, and while you're eating your steak, maybe you want to read a book? Another Daily Deal -- highly-rated Kindle reads, on sale today only for $4.99 or less.
Are these real Laguiole, or a knockoff. The box says "Made in China."
According to the Amazon description of these knives, "The word 'Laguiole' is a generic term, not legally restricted to any single company or place of manufacture." So, you're not getting French Laguiole knives, but Laguiole by FlyingColors.
I have a "Laguiole" corkscrew that bent the first time I tried to use it. It looks pretty, and even has the bee on the handle, but it's functionally useless. The block of wood it's stored in is stamped "Made in France" and it came with a certificate of authenticity, but I have my doubts.
Here are some tips for spotting forgeries.
Still, they're pretty knives and, according to some of the reviews, they're terribly handy and keep their edge. So, at that price, you probably can't go wrong. Beat the cheap looking stamped set you can get at Walmart for that price.
