Tesla Inc. stock rose as much as 11% late Wednesday after the Silicon Valley car maker reiterated profitability projections for the second half while reporting another massive loss.
That's adorable.
(Yes, this is a re-run. It would be a shame if he missed it. Economics aren't as simple as some people want to believe.)

Well, Crid, while I suspect you might be a little too seasoned for the little tyke, the dudes in my office did marvel at her skills.*
Definitely place her on the short list for entertainment at the next Amy's Winter Beach Bash.
*On a more somber note, one of the younger dudes said, "What's that she's playing? The Rolling Stones?" I could barely contain myself.

Irrational exuberance. Without EV subsidies, Telsa is not a going concern. At some point, Elon will run out of other people's money, and start going thru the various bankruptcies to stave off the end result: liquidation or merger.

Spoken as someone who obviously does not bet big.
So -
* too early to say whether I've lost money (but probably have)
* I was absolutely right about Tesla's numbers
* People love Tesla and are ignoring the numbers
* At some point, the numbers will matter
* I've gotten where I am by putting my money behind my thoughts
* I've got no issue with taking big risks for potentially big rewards
* With risk comes loss as well, I'm not going to lose sleep over this
* All the money invested was from past wins
* Everytime there is a win, I bank some of the profits
* I'll make the money back from other bets

That's the answer to a different question than the one you deigned (presumptuously) to answer. A weatherman does not say "It *will* rain...
Someday!" as if to answer the interest of readers and viewers, who wanna know if they should carry an umbrella.

Right, and where you are this morning is 'down substantially.' That's the wonderful thing about it... If you're wrong and long, your losses will eventually stop when the company folds the tent. But there's no limit to the damage a short seller can do to his portfolio.
> I've got no issue with taking

You spoke in a tone of certitude, not risk.
> I'm not going to lose sleep
I'm content that you lost face. And some dough.

People talk and act as if the stock market is a casino where bets are placed on a spinning wheel and random chance dictates the results. With such a simplistic and ill-informed view of stock trading, day trading becomes a viable career alternative for the idle unemployed with dreams of easy money.
Shorting is not simply betting a few dollars that a stock will drop. As Crid points out, the downside is potentially limitless. According to Investopedia.com: "Therein lies the major risk of short selling, the fear of infinite losses. While the maximum loss for a long investor is the amount invested in a security, the maximum loss for a short seller is theoretically infinite, since there is no upper limit to a stock’s price appreciation. This risk is compounded by the fact that during a short squeeze or buy-in..., the short seller may be forced to cover the short position at an artificially high price that may only be temporary in nature."
I did not short Tesla. Investor enthusiasm for Tesla is way too high when compared to company performance. TSLA is a glamour stock; owning it signals virtue, like those crappy shoes from Tom's, the value is in the virtue signaled, not in the utility gained. As such, TSLA is a counterintuitive stock; it should be declining, but it's not.
I’ve never viewed the press as the enemy of the people, but there are many in the press who need to affirm that the people are not the enemy of the press.

More to the point...
For years now, you and a few other Trump zombies visiting Amy's blog have built your presence through nothing but nearly-monosyllabic grunts and sarcastic idiocies as if you're sharing pearls of galactic wisdom. "Winning!" "We're all racist now!" Attempts at engagement —sincere and detailed efforts to get more than a single sentence out of you, or more than a link to a similarly illiterate HS droppout on some Trumpist website— have been ignored without comment. I think you're terrified of adult discussion. You won't acknowledge any factual journalism, literature or investigation, no matter how broadly sourced: When cornered, you're silent... But at your most expressive, you're not much better.
Much like the present instance: I KNOW WHAT THE MARKETS WILL DO TOMORROW / (But you don't) / I'M STILL RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHINGZ.
If you aren't a "troll," what the fuck are you?

On the other hand, given his comments about the cave rescuer last month, wouldn't you describe Elon Musk as a genuine troll? Anyone who's seen the footage of two of his Rockets landing on their ends simultaneously for reuse would think of him as a guy who's moving Society forward.
