Advice Goddess Free Swim
It's Thursday, and I did an intense mediation yesterday (successful, as almost all of mine are!) as a volunteer mediator in the LA City Attorney's office, doing free dispute resolution one day a week for LA residents.
Anyway, I fell asleep on the couch yesterday night and forgot to post. Sorry!
You pick the topics. I might post something today if I can get through a swath of writing I have to finish!
P.S. One link per comment or my spam filter will eat your post.
Pretty sure this won't end well.

Media narratives. It's almost like an agenda.

California Democrat proposes the state stop treating criminal defendants like ATMs.
"This creates two big problems. First, it makes it harder for poor people to get back in the clear, to clean up their act (assuming they've been convicted of an actual crime that harms other people, as opposed to some vice nonsense), and to live stable lives. Second, because they're poor, they cannot actually pay these fees, and so the expected revenue doesn't actually show up in budgets. So they don't even end up sparing the taxpayers these costs."

Interesting test case: Environmentalists are tacitly approving of China's violating the Montreal Protocol. What happens next?

This is a great song about being ghosted. Turn the closed caption on for the translation --it's not machine-generated.

I wish I had a Twitter account to correct them on the difference between Yuca and Yucca.

On a side note. Tear a cauliflower into medium-sized chunks. Give them a quick blanch in scalding hot water, place them inside a -don't forget to sterilize it first!- pickling jar, fill it with rice vinegar, close the lid and let it sit inside the fridge for a week.
It's a great side dish for really fatty meat like pork chops/ribs; and if you want to, add a halved jalapeno into the jar to give it a little bite.

Oh, Jussie. This is probably not good news.

Actually, with all the linkies to their previous posts on this story, this very double plus ungood.

Scary! But at the same time. I wish they would use it to make the Mona Lisa curse as if she's from the Jersey Shore

Gee. Haven't we heard here that debt is an asset?

Thought we also covered here the problems with government accounting, GAAP, and risk adjustments. The government does not account for risk in debts owed to it, especially when it's already spent the money. That's how the student loan program devolved into the mess it's in today.
The unpaid fines and court costs in this example are a case-in-point.

This reminded me of discussion on here awhile back. I had a better writeup but this is all I can find now. Guy comes home to find people living in house and calls police, police say it it is a civil issue with tenants...rental agreement is in pencil on notebook paper and doesn't even list the house that is rented. https://www.larslarson.com/if-you-were-a-police-officer-called-to-a-home-break-in-would-you-believe-this-rental-agreenment/
Along with that discussion, I recently moved. Just as before most the utilities were trivial to change. Just call up. The water was different. The previous owner had called in so the water would be shutoff the next day unless I got it changed into my name by 4:30. The really want a scan of the deed sent in... of course this can't be done because the county will be snail mailing that to me. So send us this doc...sorry, not all the info we need. Finally, I got an email at 4:05 from the escrow that they accepted but were not happy about it. It had a county transaction number so they accepted, but no where did it list the seller by name so they were not happy about accepting.
