Chelsea Handler Scold-umentary
What fun. We now have comedians schooling us on how ashamed we should be over something we have no control over -- the color of our skin and the circumstances of our upbringing.
Within this there's the assumption that you need to deal with people "of color" in special delicate ways. Not insultingly racist in the slightest, huh?
From the Wash Ex's Madeline Fry:
"My name's Chelsea Handler, and I am as white as they come," the comedian says in her new documentary. An audience stares blankly at Handler, which is what you would expect people to do when someone begins an on-stage monologue just to alleviate her white guilt.
"I want to know how to be a better white person to people of color," she explains. Because that doesn't sound condescending at all.
In Hello, Privilege. It's Me, Chelsea, the comedian and liberal activist attempts to use her cachet to explain why she might not fully deserve her cachet, all the while defending her right to her cachet. It's pretty confusing stuff, but that's how it works when you're a white liberal crushed under too many levels of wokeness.
The Netflix documentary, which came out this month, finds Handler schooling oblivious white people on their privilege."I wouldn't say it's totally nonexistent," says a young woman, "but it's not something that I see very commonly."
"But," Handler retorts, "would you see it if you're white?" Checkmate, am I right?
Handler's problem is not that she addresses "white privilege," a degree of which certainly exists in America. It's that she frames herself as a sort of emotional philanthropist for doing so, all the while insisting that she's trying to pass the mic.
When she appeared on The View, Handler even admitted she was told that making a documentary about white privilege is an example of her privilege.
"Yes, that is correct," she said. Why, then, is she still doing it? Handler says she wants "to give back." One wonders, though, what exactly she's giving.
For me, a strong emetic.
For Chelsea, well, I'd imagine she's getting some nice arm definition from all the back pats she's been giving herself for being "woke."
Remember that Martin Luther King person, anyone? There was this thing he said about judging people, not by their skin color, but by the "content of their character."
You know -- the stuff we have control over.
She used to be funny, I watched her talk show on E!
Then she moved to Netflix and everything went downhill afterwards.

Instead of making some self-aggrandizing “mockumentary” why doesn’t she just shell out for reparations herself and leave it at that?

If anyone ever wondered what is more ridiculous than virgin births - its this woman.

It is exceedingly immature to focus on how life is "unfair". Of course certain people have advantages. What one must do is figure out how to make the most of what one has. Danny DeVito is very short, fat, balding---but funny. And therefore rich and famous. I remember years ago when Eddie Murphy was doing standup thinking that for sure I would trade places with him. I always sort of wanted to be an athlete...oh well. Not possible. Envy is the worst sin I think because it motivates other sins.

Chelsea Handler is the Church Lady of the High Church of Woke - a humorless scold whose prim smugness and false humility betray her overwhelming sense of superiority.

Thank you for teaching me the word emetic. Somehow I never learned it until I was this many years old. Perfect use.

Handler should have been more judicious in choosing her ancestors.

Why is it that "White Privilege" is seen as a bad thing and those that benefit from it should be dragged down to the level of people that do not?
Why not see it as the norm and try to raise everyone to that level?
My privilege comes from parents who stayed together and valued education.
It's not my fault that you never knew your dad or had a good male influence in your life. It's not my fault that you can't get a job because you can't read or speak English.

It works, to. Your father's place of birth can be Evinrude, and your oldest sister's middle name can be Stratocaster. The computers don't care.

Just file her under Histrionic Attention-Seekers with Rosanna Arquette and move on.
Nothing to see here.

I'm getting so sick of this sh*t.
Chelsea Handler is also Jewish. Being blonde and pale, I'm assuming she's of eastern European Ashkenazi descent (very smart, pale people). Does this mean she has brainiac privilege or just Jew privilege in general? /sarc

People believe comedians when they really shouldn't. It's not like the comedian, however gifted, really knows about everything they talk about.

Chelsea is performing a public service. It's good for people to get a clear look at what Progressives are really like.
When you see what 'white privilege' actually means to most Progressives ( as I have ), how they apply it in social settings, you realize that they're being disingenuous.
White privilege is to Progressives what Gratitude is to Yoga ladies.
But the really creepy thing is that the whole 'white privilege' worldview is basically a reconstruction of white supremacy. It's Progressive white people telling non-whites that they have learned to use their power wisely and will now guide their colored children to salvation.
