Japanese artists reimagine countries as anime samurais:
I have seen enough anime to know that the Norway samurai is up to no good.

Wait, you mean bestowing on a population the right to the fruits of someone else's labor might prove controversial. But doesn't everyone have a right to food? Or to healthcare?
And who's gonna pay the farmers who grow that "adequate food?" Who's gonna pay those doctors and technicians who provide that healthcare right to others who cannot or will not pay?
Before we start declaring something a right, we need to figure out how it's provided and why the providers should be enjoined to disburse the fruits of their labor to all comers.

The most important things for life ranked by relevance are:
1. Air
2. Water
3. Food
4. Shelter/housing
5. Personal security/safety
Now think about the nations where the government took sole control of those vital things because of just how important they were for their citizens. It was just that important those resources were managed correctly for the benefit of all.
Maybe if you want to survive your government shouldn't be in control of what you need to live.

Here's a tweet that's true but I hadn't thought of it:

Restaurants have realized that QR code menus mean they can adjust prices in real time - and they don't want to go back.

When I worked in a major grocery chain there was talk of having electronic on-shelf pricing displays fed directly from corporate headquarters into each store. That way, there was no delay from price changes to printing stickers to applying them to shelf labels.
We used to joke about people arbitraging canned peas outside the stores in some dystopian future.
I hadn't thought about the rapid price change capabilities of QR menus, but it makes sense. It would have to be synced with price changes on each restaurant's cash register, but that's readily doable. The only issue would be the delay from customers ordering a dish to when they pay the tab. Although programs could be set up to keep the price at order for the bills.
Remember Max Headroom from the '80s? It was a silly show in which TV networks received viewership stats in realtime and adjusted their shows' plot arcs in realtime in response to declining or growing viewership. While silly, the show did seem to have a handle on the growing connectedness of the "Internet of things."
There was a book published in 1995 called Being Digital by Nicholas Negroponte in which the author postulated a connected world in which physical media are supplanted by digital media with real-time connections. It's amazing how much Negroponte got right, both good and bad.

Ever read or hear about Flash Boys?
My money guys swears they've put a stop to that on Wall Street, but that won't stop it from rippling through the rest of the economy.

That one must have slipped through the filter. I'll have to add it to my Amazon list - a list that is way to long at this point.
