Jim Crow 2.0: And The Poisoner/"Educators" Think It's A Wonderful Idea
Irony is broken: "The Lower Manhattan Community School will conduct the controversial exercises as part of its mission to 'undo the legacy of racism'"...by bringing back racist segregation! https://t.co/yQjA72b4Bx

Story in the New York Post by Elizabeth Rosner and Selim Algar:
A Manhattan junior high school plans to racially separate students while discussing identity and social justice topics next week, The Post has learned. The Lower Manhattan Community School will conduct the controversial exercises as part of its mission to "undo the legacy of racism and oppression in this country that impacts our school community," according to an email sent to parents.
Kids in grades seven and eight will opt into one of five categories, Principal Shanna Douglas wrote in the message.
Whites, Asians, and multi-racial students have their own categories, while African-American and Hispanic students are combined into one group, according to her email.
"On November 23rd and 24th, 7th and 8th graders will explore the question 'How do our racial identities influence our experiences?' in affinity groups," Douglas announced. "An affinity group is a group formed around a shared interest."
The school has also offered an additional group, which appears to be for those uncomfortable with the format.
That cluster will enter with discussion asking "Why are we even talking about racial identity?" according to the message.
"This optional program was developed in close coordination with both the School Leadership Team, PTA and families," said DOE spokesperson Nathaniel Styer, who said it is "abundantly clear to both students and parents that anyone can opt-out of this two day celebration if they desire."
The school emailed parents to explain that the point of the exercise is to "undo the legacy of racism and oppression in this country that impacts our school community."
..."I think our teachers know how to handle it," the mom said.
{A] parent ... outside the school Thursday and said she didn't object to the classes.
...But the racial sorting troubled other parents who said the approach is inherently divisive.
"I think a lot of us feel like this is too much," said another mother. "But most parents are too afraid to say anything at this point. Why are we separating our kids like this?"
An LMC dad said some families want the school to prioritize traditional academics rather than politically-tinged material.
"Teach the history," he said. "Tell that story. I'm all for an honest accounting. But this is something different. It's insidious."
I'm genuinely surprised how rapidly an ideology of encouraging racial resentment and conflict at all times, everywhere has gone from fringe corners of academia all the way up to high-ranking elected officials. This is an actual threat to democracy that is never identified as so.

So that's the mission, undoing the legacy of racism and oppression? Not providing a solid education? These folks aren't educators, they're crusaders.
Gonna try and meld those into one grievance super-group, are they?

In my high school in Atlanta, there were a handful of black kids. All the boys were on the football team and ranked much higher socially than me and my nerdy friends. No one ever bothered them.
If you separate kids by race and rub the white kids noses in their "racism" you will in fact create racists. Good job.

In my North Florida high school, too, popularity and social status were not determined by race, but by membership in esteemed groups (i.e., the athletic teams, cheerleading, etc.), by access to money (i.e., well-to-do parents), or by any one of those subliminal signals that determine teenaged popularity. Black kids who met any of those criteria had far less trouble than the white kids who did not.

They're really going to regret raising white racial awareness, aren't they?

Wait, why the blacks and hispanics together? That seems poorly thought through.

Near Kennedy Space Center in the early '70s, black students on the football team were community leaders, and they are to this day.
Do not mistake a culture for an entire race just because you have been told "African"-American is everyone with black skin. It's not, and the race hustlers know that.

"Wait, why the blacks and hispanics together?" ~NicoleK
On the one hand they are 'oppressed brown people' irrespective of any actual skin color.
On the other hand they don't have enough minorities in one group to make things work. So they merge different groups. As Conan said "Gonna try and meld those into one grievance super-group, are they?"

Blacks and Hispanics might not be the best choice of groups to try and meld together. I don't know how it is in New York, but in California those two groups hate each other.
"If you separate kids by race and rub the white kids noses in their "racism" you will in fact create racists." Might not even need the nose-rubbing part. My (white) stepson was not at all racist until he spent several months in county jails where inmates separated themselves into white, black and Mexican gangs, and enforced the separation by beating up anyone who fraternized outside his race. He was seriously racist when he came out.
