The difference is that Jimmy inherited the inflation that bedeviled his presidency and gave us gas lines, sweaters at home, and malaise. Biden is oblivious to the inflationary mess he's creating.
On his way out the door in 1979, Carter did have the good sense to appoint Paul Volcker to chair the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. Volcker took the ugly steps necessary to curb inflation, giving us the Reagan Recession, as the Left likes to call it, that had inflation curbed by the end of 1983.
Add to the Volcker appointment that Carter initiated deregulation process which was picked up and carried on by the Reagan administration:
In all, Carter was a poor, and mostly inept, president, but he deserves credit for the good things he did. Biden, however, is proving to be completely inept and we probably won't have these "on the other hand" qualifiers when discussing his presidency in the future.
