Emmanuelle Looks At Arnoldís Willie
In France, ìArnold And Willyî is not a headline about the California governorís race, but the French title of ìDifferent Strokes,î starring the California governor candidate Gary Coleman...not to be confused with ìArnold and Willie,î a photograph starring the naked California governor candidate Arnold Schwarzenegger. Still confused? Emmanuelle shows and tells (almost) all. (The English translation is in yellow below the French.) For the naked truth, visit Daniel Radosh.
Seriously...he's the Terminator for a reason, heh. Looks like he's got a nice, big...gun...
I don't know if it's truly a touched-up photo, but it doesn't sway my vote in any way, so I think he should stop sweating. The people who want to vote for him will. The people who would rather have Gary Coleman will vote for him. The people who want Gray Davis to stay will hopefully stay home.

I saw the title "Emmanuelle looks at Arnold's Willie," and knowing we have California governor race on this blog lately. I was thinking "Gary Coleman" when I saw "Arnold," since that was his character's name on "Diff'rent Strokes." Then with "Emmanuelle," I thought of "Emmanuel Lewis" who was star of "Webster" which was more or less an inferior clone of "Strokes." Both featured irrepressibly cute African American children adopted by white families.
I remember reading about a stand up comedy routine done by Alison Argrim (Nellie Olsen-Dalton on "Little House on the Prarie"). Apparently, she billed herself as "The Prarie Bitch" who described her character as the "living embodiment of PMS" on that show. "We didn't have any Midol on the prarie." (Self-depricating humor. I love her already.) She also described herself as "The child star who didn't hold up a video store, shoot her drug dealer or sue her parents." She also said that the kids from "Little House" weren't allowed to play with the kids from "Strokes," fearing that they would be a bad influence. Meow, meow, Nellie Olsen.
By the way, Amy, I'm loving this blog, but could you please ask your boyfriend if he ever thought of putting a message board on this board, too? I'm enjoying the people here very much, and I would love the opportunity to discuss your columns with them as well. You could actually host it, too. So if some snert comes along and decides to disrupt, you could just click the magic "Snert-B-Gone" and that would be the end of that problem. Or, if you're busy, you could ask someone to host it for you. Just a thought. Of course, that depends upon the expertise of your boyfriend, really. But if he needs help, I can probably track down the code he needs to make a message board. (Though somehow I feel, given what he's done with your wonderful site here, asking him if he needs help in making a message board is a little like asking Julia Child if she needs my help in the kitchen.)

"The Prairie Bitch" -- pretty funny. As far as the comments section goes - thanks for asking - I have to think about it -- I don't know if I'd do that, and whether it would be a part of my blog, or elsewhere -- and it can only be on Moveable Type pages, not HTML pages -- so it could only happen when the rest of the site goes MT. Getting the blog in shape (the title's still sliding, I think -- had to do that temporarily to make the comments windows work on PCs)...getting the blog in shape has been an enormous task -- for him -- I just stand in the wings and express a lot of gratitude.

And, to me, Emmanuelle (as in, Emmanuelle Richard) is like Madonna -- she only needs one name. Then again, I wasn't allowed to watch TV as a child. Emmanuelle.net is her bilingual blog.

An MB would be great. I like Invisaboard myself, but the other brands are good too. We'll be nice to Mr. Amy, though, and he'll get to it soon. He's done a beautiful job here so far. I like it.

Yeah! Ask your oh, so fabulous boyfriend to post here, Amy! I would love the opportunity to express my appreciation to him for your website! Or at least, forward this message along: Dude, you're awesome! You did a terrific job on this site, especially this blog. I'm loving the opportunity to actually bat ideas around with Amy and other Amy-fans. Thanks a million, and a million more!
By the way, I'm on a PC, and I've never had a problem with the blog. I don't know why that is, though.
Now I'm thinking "Amy fans" need a new name. Like Rush Limbaugh has his "dittoheads" (or "didiots," according to Al Franken). So, what are we, folks? Goddess worshippers? Amyficionados? Anyone else have an idea?

Hi! First, I'd like to say I love your blog - very informative and, of course, funny. I found it via the link on the Brights site.
Second, if you'd like to have a message board, you could always cheat and use Yahoo! Groups. They offer free, pre-fab discussion boards with a number of customization options. On the down side, the site carries ads, and is sluggish at times. Members can have new messages emailed to them, or just read them online if they prefer: http://groups.yahoo.com/
I'm the owner (i.e., head moderator) of a few groups for people in my home town of Murray, KY. Here are a couple of them, if you'd like to see examples of groups. (Not necessarily good examples, but still...)

About what to call ourselves - how about Alkaloids? ;)

Oh, Charles, I LOVE IT!!!!
About the Yahoo! Groups. That's a distinct possibility. And any one of us could start it up. The only disadvantage is that it wouldn't be here. I was just thinking about a discussion board that we could use to discuss Amy's columns and any upcoming projects she has and Amy could participate here, too. Of course, the Yahoo! Groups doesn't preclude that, but it would be nice if it were here.

Proboards has free boards that could be linked up to this site.

I'm partial to Richard's suggestion myself: "Alkaloids." Our detractors will probably know us as "Alkoholics," the way Rush Limbaugh's detractors know "dittoheads" as "didiots."
