I Know You Are, But What Am I?
Take this handy-dandy quiz to figure out what to call yourself, politically speaking (I mean, besides "disgusted with just about everybody in politics"). I came up firmly libertarian ("libertarian, small 'l'", that is -- a term which I borrowed from Cathy Seipp, whom, I think, got it from Eugene Volokh -- very useful for differentiating oneself from the wild-eyed, muttering conspiracy theorists who appear to make up much of the Libertarian party).

I came out "libertarian," too. That's what happens when you answer "yes" to everything.

It's a libertarian site. Seems like the questions are designed to make reasonable people come up libertarian.
Can't really dispute it calling me liberal and Amy libertarian, though.

Got to admit you're right there. Kind of like that "you aren't beating your wife again, are you?" question.

I am thrilled and delighted to announce that I've been labeled "left-liberal." Best thing that's happened to me all week!!!

Like we're all shocked and surprised!
Amy Alkon at November 27, 2003 2:45 PM
What shocked and surprised me was that it didn't also throw in the words "bleeding heart."
Lena at November 27, 2003 2:52 PM
Obvious overkill!
Amy Alkon at November 27, 2003 3:16 PM
Yeah, me and my bleeding heart would have to agree.
Lena at November 27, 2003 11:25 PM
though I have no quibble with how I'm labeled,
I think the questions are not specific enough. for instance, the one on government control of the press etc. does no control mean everything is a free for all, and control mean censorship? or is control equal to keeping the media barons from owning too much?
no wonder we can't get polls to agree with such artfully (artlessly?) phrased questions.

Hi David! Good questions! I assumed that "control" did indeed mean "keeping the media barons from owning too much" -- which is why I voted for CONTROL, baby!
PS: I'm also a closet Nader fan who'd like to see some of his ideas about radio as a community forum get realized.
