God Didn't Mention Anything About The Sudan?
Ewen McAskill writes in the Guardian about George Bush reportedly hearing voices:
George Bush has claimed he was on a mission from God when he launched the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, according to a senior Palestinian politician in an interview to be broadcast by the BBC later this month.Mr Bush revealed the extent of his religious fervour when he met a Palestinian delegation during the Israeli-Palestinian summit at the Egpytian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, four months after the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003.
One of the delegates, Nabil Shaath, who was Palestinian foreign minister at the time, said: "President Bush said to all of us: 'I am driven with a mission from God'. God would tell me, 'George go and fight these terrorists in Afghanistan'. And I did. And then God would tell me 'George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq'. And I did."
Mr Bush went on: "And now, again, I feel God's words coming to me, 'Go get the Palestinians their state and get the Israelis their security, and get peace in the Middle East'. And, by God, I'm gonna do it."
Apparently, god also put in a word for Halliburton.

The last time I heard God's voice he said "I think you need help..."

Great story. Too bad it isn't true.

In fact, and while it naturally hasn't been widely reported, both Palestinians at the meeting have issued clarifications. Nabil Shaath has explained that he didn't take the statement literally, and Mahmoud Abbas, who attended the meeting in question, denies that any such quote was made at all:
"This report is not true. I have never heard President Bush talking about religion as a reason behind the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. President Bush has never mentioned that in front of me on any occasion and specifically not during my visit in 2003."

Why is it that no one notices what Haliburton did during the Clinton administration? Is it because everything was OK, hunky-dory, so long as "the most moral Administration in history" was in office?

pray tell who is quoted as saying "the most moral Administration in history"?
"In the Balkans conflict in the 1990s, KBR supported U.S. peacekeeping forces in Bosnia, Croatia and Hungary with food, laundry, transportation and other lifecycle management services."

i think they were too busy balking over the balkans.

Oh, and just above the quote you posted was this one:
"In the early 1990s Halliburton was found to be in violation of federal trade barriers in Iraq and Libya, having sold these countries dual-use oil drilling equipment and, through its former subsidiary, Halliburton Logging Services, sending six pulse neutron generators to Libya. After having pleaded guilty, the company was fined $1.2 million, with another $2.61 million in penalties."

I'm under the impression Hillary Clinton made the claim about "moral Administration". Of course, if the definition of "is" is a point of argument, "moral" is clearly flexible.
Nice job looking up Haliburton's work in the 90's. Now: who got them those contracts, why wasn't it an issue then, and how is that different from today?
