The War On Pain Sufferers
Yep, that "war on drugs" is really something. They yanked a medical marijuana user out of bed and threw him in jail without painkillers. The army vet, whose pain started after his parachute didn't open, was jailed after checking into a Canadian hospital, having been denied asylum, writes Gene Johnson for the AP:
He then went five days with no medical treatment and only ibuprofen for the pain, attorney Douglas Hiatt said.Steven Tuck, 38, was still fitted with the urinary catheter when he shuffled into federal court for a detention hearing Wednesday, Hiatt said.
"This is totally inhumane. He's been tortured for days for no reason," Hiatt said.
U.S. Magistrate Judge James Donohue ordered Tuck temporarily released so he could be taken to a hospital for treatment.
However, by the time Donohue issued his order, King County Jail officials had received a detainment request from Humboldt County, Calif., so Tuck was not released.
Sorry, but why is marijuana illegal?

> Sorry, but why is marijuana illegal?
It fucks up people's development, especially that of children. I have some experience with this. Radio Sweetheart Dr. Drew says that modern medicine has better treatments, with less side effects, for every supposed blessing that weed can bring to a sufferer: The truth is, people just want to smoke weed. In the case of cancer patients and so forth, what the hell.
Actually, in the case of ANYONE, what the hell. But still there is that development issue. It's like alcohol. Most 19- and 20-year-olds are able to make rational choices about the dangers of drinking. The 21-year limit is just our way of warning them about the substantial hazard, so enforcement (at least on their end of an alcohol purchase) is not such a big deal, because the point's been made.
Same with dope. There's something to be said for letting children know that this can get out of hand.

Ah Goddess ask and you shall receive the answers you seek. Why? people will say this and people will say that, but in the end, it's all rooted in religious belief. why are gays hated? in the end, if you trace it back, it's roots, it's origins are in religious belief. this is why the battle of science vs. superstition is the most important battle going on in the world today, because it spills over into every aspect of our living.
I have a truly heartbreaking work of staggering genius on the subject of drugs in general, i offer to my army of admirers. I'm too lazy to look it up, but just google or yahoo my name, chris volkay, and look for the war on drugs article. it's lots of places.
Two pieces of business: goddess do you have the article or link or date it was on your blog about the scientist who left the US because he had two daughters with diabetes he was trying to help using stem cells, I'd like to cite that in a piece im writing but i cant find it.
Second, where is the world's favorite penis sucker?

It's not religious -- the ban on marijuana has been based in economics from the get-go, first to protext the paper mills from hemp substitutes, and now because the Pharmaceutical industry doesn't need the competition from a pain relief that grows like a weed, literally. If you could grow valium in your back yard, they'd ban that, too.

Lena is lurking, but not commenting.

Frank Sinatra:
what you're saying is actually true-but I'm talking about the overall worldview that underpins and guides our decisions and our thought processes. It's so with drugs, the same with prostitution, gambling and the list goes on.
Is the Lena tower of penis having some surgery done? is the that entity CoJo I see on the nauseating entertainment shows actually Lena?

I am meeting Lena for lunch, not a post-surgical celebration, so I imagine that all is intact at this moment.

Hi Lena.
Vote Republican.

I'm sorry. I thought this was the thread to discuss why marijuana was illegal. I didn't realize I had stumbled upon the "Bash Lena" thread.

Lena votes and gone with the wind is Crid's vote, says Cheyenne.

You can blame liberal Supreme Court Justices for the ban on medical marijuana. That's why conservatives are duking it out over the Miers nomination. She probably would vote with the liberal justices to maintain the ban on medical marijuana. So you can blame Senator Harry Reid for suggesting her name to Bush.
BTW, Clarence Thomas voted to allow the use of medical marijuana.

For my part, Lena's being kidded, not bashed.

"You can blame liberal Supreme Court Justices"
You know, it's always so refreshing talking to Matt Welch, because, like me, he just looks at things in terms of stupid or not stupid; he's not hellbent on defending everything a particular side does.
There's no politician, liberal or conservative, if you want to divide them that way (instead of just on the take/sold out to a greater or lesser degree), who's willing to come out against the ridiculous war on drugs and all its stupid side effects.

yeah, freedom's nothing important to sacrifice so that the government can overstep its bounds to do some parenting for you. i hope you don't complain about high taxes, too.
