You don't understand! Yes, Spiderman's on the side of truth and justice... But he works OUTSIDE the system! The cops hate him almost as much as the criminals! He doesn't WANT to wear that form-fitting clothing, those clingy fabrics that seem so appealing to the pre-adolescent understanding of the masculine form. He dresses that way because he HAS to!
