Sarko Kisses Islamic Ass
Via Reuters, unbelievably dim and out-of-touch statements by Sarkozy about the Saudis and Islam:
In Riyadh on Monday, he hailed Islam as "one of the greatest and most beautiful civilisations the world has known" and described his Saudi hosts as rulers who "appeal to the basic values of Islam to combat the fundamentalism that negates them."His praise for a kingdom that enforces and propagates a strict version of Islam, during a visit aimed at securing lucrative export contracts, was the last straw for his critics.
Monsieur, with the Muslims multiplying like mice in France, it's only a matter of time before the nutbags institute Sharia law, paint over the face of the Mona Lisa, and forcibly convert or kill all these children you've had or are about to have, along with the rest of French citizenry. Then again, perhaps you understand that, and were just doing your best to survive the death of French culture and western freedoms. Bonne chance!
One of my grandpa's stories:
"I needed to leave my pack while I ran an errand and the only other guy there was just the sort you might expect to take it. So, I asked him the favor of watching it for me. He took on the task with a little bit of visible pride from the request. When I got back, everything was fine."
I'm wondering if there's a little of this in the "appeal to the basic values of Islam to combat the fundamentalism that negates them." He's hoping it will be a self-fulfilling prophecy.
On the other hand, maybe not. I mean "securing lucrative export contracts" pretty much says it all. There's nothing like government for the people. You can read that last sentence a couple of ways.

The Islamic world is no worse than the Christian world. They are just more upfront about how they do things there. If you are a non-believer in the Islamic world they will kill you. A non-believer in the Christian world will disappear, experience unfortunate accidents, etc. This may not be true in Ecotopia but it is certainly true in most of our world.

Have you got one example of this, William?
I mean, something that is more recent than the Middle ages?
....
Hello,
William,
......
You got an example of this?

Uh, I'm still here. Christopher Hitchens, Sam Harris, Daniel Dennett, Richard Dawkins, and numerous other atheists, famous and not, are still here.
Who, exactly, has disappeared or experienced unfortunate incidents? Do you think my recent surgical fun was due, not to a reaction to the anesthesia, but a plot to eradicate atheists with gastrointestinal issues?
PS I'm fine, thanks - biopsies all showed nothing.
I'm reminded of that old song: "They're coming to take me away, ha ha ho ho hee hee...to the funny farm."
(Yoohoo, William, your ride's here!)

I think William is the guy who has been dissapeared. Might be for the best. Could Castro be next? We can only hope.
;-}

You made me snort my milk. Good thing I didn't tell my Dr. I wasn't Christian before my last C-section.
I find it deliciously ironic that the Scientologist is talking about a religion getting rid of people.
P.S. Very glad to hear you're all right, Amy.
