It's sad that they have to do that. But the question is where is it?
If its a rural town then that just means they're paranoid. If it is the center of some city, then that's a different story.

Yes, this is sad, but unfortunately, not so rare these days, whether rural or not. There are so many thefts of things "just for kicks" that I don't think paranoia has anything to do with it so much as people just wanting to protect (and keep) their property. I mean, if someone wants that particular rocking chair badly enough, they're going to get a pair of chain cutters and take the chair. What's really sad is when people feel that they have to chain their Xmas lawn displays.

I'm with JimP... The neon is a tipoff. Seeing chairs like that puts people in the mind of imaginary southern hospitality during some nebulous yesteryear, which is why the owner put them there. They're a marketing tool. There have always, always been neighborhoods in America where you didn't leave nice things out on the porch unprotected... Especially if you weren't going to be sleep upstairs with shotgun.

Someone stole my all-American front porch swing a few years back. Better safe than sorry.
A few years after that, someone stole a super-size pumpkin that weighed 80 pounds, easy. I hope whoever did it got a herniated disk.

That's so horrible - so sorry to hear that. And I second that on the herniated disk.
P.S. I'm pretty sure that shot was taken in Mt. Clemens (Michigan).

I still have neighbors who never lock their houses, even when they are gone all day. I don't think I've locked my car, except when I go into Spokane or Portland, since I moved to Idaho.
