Two favorite examples:

Seven convicted murderers whose sentences had been commuted to life broke out of the NM pen. The governor called upon them to turn themselves in, because if they remained at large, it could change the whole tenor of the debate on capital punishment.

Gun buy-back programs where they announce in advance that they won't run the guns through the NCIC. "No questions asked." The brighter thugs take this opportunity to have the police clean up their evidence for them.

Sometimes I tell my wife, who works for a university, that a particular program is so stupid only a high-IQ academic could have instituted it. But I'm probably exaggerating. Perhaps we can also count on our police and our politicians to achieve (at least occasionally) the upper echelons of stupidity.

I do remember there's a similar program in France to get rid of the Roms; Not only they pay for the transport but they also PAY THEM to leave. What do the Roms make of all this? They leave and then bring back their whole family, hopping to be deported again!

I guess when countries will chose to enforce laws instead of living by the feeling of some moron humanists, we will have a just society.

The US taxpayer is abused/robbed/marginalized by nearly every special interest group of society and their enables, and this PC voluntary departure program is an egregious example of that.

This is almost as stupid as Obama saying the US should set an example for Russia.

We've currently got some church here getting all kinds of accolades and praise from the media for giving out gift certificates to the mall that's taken some bad publicity for 1) harrassing a guy who dared to wear a t-shirt he had made there reading peace (yes, that's it; just peace) and 2) because they're where the gang-bangers hang out (which explains why they're so offended by the idea of peace). Their rep for that has grown to the point where they had to pretend to ban unescorted teens and no one but gang-bangers wants to go there evenings and (of course) the teen pretense doesn't apply to anyone over 18. Myself, I have gone from avoiding them between Thanksgiving and Xmas, to staying away altogether and, somehow, I don't think I'm the only one. They are on one of the city's main bus lines; the mall on the city's busiest street has strangely grown by leaps and bounds so it doesn't surprised me that they're willing to donate coupons.

But everytime the media gives this asshole church (and it is asshole in its obnoxiousness, preacher is one of those clueless middle-aged white guys who still reeks of white suburbia but thinks he's with-it with black urban youth and couldn't get a pulpit in burbia so has his own church between the colleges and the ghetto with an obnoxiously huge neon purple cross and likes to come on with his hippy-dippy we're all brothers in Christ/God's children) cudos for this program, I wonder how many murder weapons are now in their possession.

At this one, all I can do is scratch my head and think boy those 8 must have really hated the US!
