Marisa Tomei Is Already Complete, Thanks!
No ring, no spawn, no problem. Marisa Tomei, from a quote on TakeBackTheIsland:
"I'm not that big a fan of marriage as an institution and I don't know why women need to have children to be seen as complete human beings."

She's a definite 10...

Check her out in "Before the devil knows your dead". You won't be disappointed. Good movie too.

Ahem... I believe the correct spelling is "Yawkah".
And I do want her sexually.
But nonetheless, this is silly:
| I don't know why women need to
| have children to be seen as
| complete human beings.
First of all, if I or any other man said that, no one would be surprised.
Second, it ain't just about a need to be seen as "a complete human being". Many, many women would think their own lives were failures if they never had kids, no matter what the rest of the world thought. (Octomom has several dimensions in her madness, not just a desire for attention.)
Third (and this is kinda parta the first one), ummmm... Yeah, Marisa! You're right! Women are goofy that way. But it's like saying "I don't understand why teenage boys will stand in line at the grocery with a tent pole, ready to hump anything that moves", or "I don't understand why all those gay guys can't meet a nice girl and just settle down." Human nature deserves some respect.
Fourth, no one over the age of 16 should glibly belittle "institutions". What's next, a complaint about "the corporations, man!"?
Fifth, the clips I saw of "Wrestler" looked unwatchable. The last thing we need in our lives is a movie with a soundtrack where Bruce Springsteen mumbles in a faux-negro voice about "mangy dogs" or whatever.

I am a fan of marriage, but I think people are way too hung up over the lives and decisions of others. People who care about the personal lives of celebrities need to find a better source of self-esteem.

How dare you! (said the bottom-feeding Hollywood technician). How dare you, Soody.
It's not that you're wrong, it's just that it hurts to see it said out loud. People have always taken an interest in the lives of others with whom they have no special contact.
You're correct: This often gets out of hand. My favorite example of repugnant celebrity came from this brilliant column.

And thanks, you're right...I was Russian. Uh, er...

Thanks for posting that link to the Goldberg column - terrific piece. I love the debunking of "let them eat cake!" I've seen it before, but most people think it was said by Marie Antoinette.
Streisand appears to think she knows everything. I know this firsthand, because Marlon Brando once took me to dinner at her house so he wouldn't have to brave her and Travolta by himself. She's the rudest person who's ever hosted me.
Travolta, Kelly Preston, James Brolin, and Josh Brolin were the others in attendance. Josh Brolin was the only apparently normal human being there.
Now I have to go read the "repugnant celebrity" link.

Criddy, can you repost the "repugnant celeb" link? Not working.

Emailing it to you.
Anyone else having trouble with the link?

Link works for me, at both locations.
While we're on the subject of 18th century empresses, I thought I'd mention my favorite, Catherine the Great. She was subjected to endless, vicious slander during her lifetime & afterward. You all know the stories about her & horses. And after 1917, the Soviets did their best to write her out of Russian history. But her reputation as Catherine the Great hasn't really budged an inch. Just goes to show that leftists who try to rewrite history don't always get away with it.

Crid -
The Wrestler is an excellent film. I think you'd enjoy it. The Springsteen song only runs over the closing credits.
