Hot Tip For Mother's Day
Cuisinart TOB-195 Convection Toaster Oven, Stainless Steel
You've all been really great about patronizing my Amy's Mall links when you need stuff on Amazon. The kickbacks I get from Amazon are helping me bridge the downturn in newspapers. Got $162 in April, the highest ever. It's much appreciated.
In the meantime, I've been working my ass off on what will most likely be my next book, barely leaving the house. Almost have the first chapter done. I think it's the best thing I've ever written. Hope I'm right!

If Evil big brother o' mine had not gotten mom a toaster oven that can also control the entire power grid of North and South America, and who knows what else, a few years ago . . .
[shakes fist in brother's general direction]

Seriously, $150 for a toaster? That'll keep you in a lot of boots!

Hey, mothers can only cook?
Whip on down to Honda and get her a Fury.
I dunno how to get one of those through Amazon, though... but it would be a wonderful coincidence. "Amazon offers Furies..."

As for women cooking, it's mother's day, so I suggested this for the ladies.
P.S. A convection oven is NOT a toaster oven. They're pretty great, apparently. I wouldn't know because I've only started cooking at 45, thanks to the economy. Saving beaucoup bucks and eating really healthily, but there are amusing moments.
The first time I cooked chicken, it was in there for an hour and a half and it still wasn't done. I called my neighbor, who's a mom, and who encouraged me to cook. She thought, "Oh my god, she's going to blow herself up, and ran right over." Oven was broken, it turned out. Since been fixed, but my neighbor cooked my chicken at 11 at night, which was very sweet of her. Trotted over to pick up the pan of chicken at 11:45 p.m.
Otherwise, Gregg cooks for me. He's very good. We actually stayed in in Paris on our anniversary and he made me a fantastic dinner. My job is to stay out of the kitchen while he's at work. And keep Lucy out, too. She is a big Gregg fan and uses him like a big couch when we're watching something on the TV.

Meandering even further off-topic: Will you be doing a book tour?
