Amy-
What did you think of Dany? You'd think, since she is also a psychotherapist, that she would have had more to contribute to that part of the conversation. I wonder if she didn't say much because she was worried about falling into the "bad therapist" category. I don't think she even knew who Albert Ellis was, which signifies to me that she may not be the best therapist after all.
I wish they would have had more opinions- both Dany and Fat were talking about pretty trivial topics. Who cares about your stupid photographer experience Dany! Seriously!

Hi Goldberry,
Fat Steve from the big cig here, Thanks for listening, criticism is always welcome!
To address a few of your points: The reason why Dany didn't engage with the Ellis comment or the psychotherapy comments is that we 'don't do confrontation.' The purpose of the interview was so that our listeners (who are mostly from the UK) could learn about Amy and what she does. We don't have arguments with our interviewees, and Dany does have differing opinions than Amy on these things so we moved on. I'm sure Amy v. Dany in a debate would be fantastic to listen to but thats not what we do on the podcast. For a more extensive version of Dany's thoughts on Ellis and CBT, you can listen to Episode 20 (and to prove she knows who he is ;))
As far as your other point goes, the topics that we discuss are the kind of things that our listeners want to hear. The podcast started as a live radio show and we still wish to appeal to the audience we developed through that, and those listeners prefer the light-hearted banter even when we are talking about serious subjects. The specific 'stupid photographer experience' (a bit rude, actually, but I'll let that pass,) segment was part of a continuing thing we do where Dany reads from her diary as a 16 year old. It's more about looking at how one describes things as a teenager and views them 20+ years later than trying to provide an interesting, gripping narrative.
So, hey, the podcast still might not be your cup of tea, (or coffee- not to be UK-centric,) but hopefully that answered a few of your questions.
This was a fun little podcast (and I'm not just saying that because the hosted posted above.)
I suppose part of the reason I loved it was that I'm an Anglophile and I found Dany's voice unbelievably sexy. (No offense to you Amy, or Fat Steve...)
I LOVED your 'what you do with your finger bowl is your own business' line! Now I can't wait to read your book.
P.S. Is Fat Steve single? I love a redhead with a sexy voice...

Fat- thanks for the clarification. I should apologize for my comment, it was rude. I commented out of ignorance, having only listened to your show that one time I guess I failed to appreciate the show for what it is.
I honestly think that you and Dany are doing a really cool thing by hi-lighting the differences between American and British culture/attitude/outlook in a fun, positive way. And I agree, her voice is very pleasant. (I think what put me off was all the fluff within the meat of what she was saying- it took her a while to make her point and my attention wandered).
Since you have a "non confrontation" policy, I understand now why Dany didn't jump in to add or defend her own opinions, and I also understand that it's best for the show to respect the guest speakers. I just think that Amy made a lot of valid points and was hoping to hear your take on it, but your lack of input made me think you were both disinterested. In any case, I would love to listen to a psychology theory debate between Amy and Dany (kind spirited of course)! I think it would be awesome!
So, Fat, please forgive my hasty judgement, and thankyou for being so diplomatic in your response.
