How's It Hanging?
Better be low and droopy, if you're a Somali lady, or you might be accused of wearing a bra. Un-Islamic! say the local Islamists. From the Daily Mail:
A hardline Islamist group in Somalia has begun publicly whipping women for wearing bras that they claim violate Islam as they are 'deceptive'.The insurgent group Al Shabaab has sent gunmen into the streets of Mogadishu to round up any women who appear to have a firm bust, residents claimed yesterday.
The women are then inspected to see if the firmness is natural, or if it is the result of wearing a bra.
It's a tough job, but somehow, they find men to do it.
If they are found wearing a bra, they are ordered to remove it and shake their breasts, residents said.

How is that maintaining the "modesty" so cherished by islam? Really, why we allow these people to continue to exist is beyond me. It's not like we don't have the capability to eradicate them.

And then they find a bra-less woman whose nipples are pointing through the fabric of her burqa and they publicly stone her for her lewdness.
If a man feels dishonored by his wife/daughter/ sister for being groped by one of these gunmen, does he have to kill her to redeem his honor?

Juliana, that was my exact thought: "These guys find the way Western women dress to be slutty and blasphemous. So their response is... force women to go braless?" And heck, we haven't had any good braless action around these parts since the 1970s.

I'm beginning to think that Islam is really some kind of giant practical joke. This isn't real, right? In order to be chaste and subservient, women must burn their bras? Maybe L. Ron Hubbard's not really dead after all.

Thanks for the link. My line of work centers on Arabs and Muslims and the "This fort is unfair to Arabs" sign made my jaw drop. Funny how there really is nothing new.
