Facebook Founder May Face The Death Penalty
In Pakistan, under the dictates of "the religion of peace":
Zuckerberg is being charged by the Pakistani court under the Pakistani penal code Section 295-C that says, "Use of derogatory remark etc, in respect of the Holy Prophet, whoever by words, either spoken or written, or by visible representation, or by any imputation, innuendo, or insinuation, directly or indirectly, defiles the sacred name of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) shall be punished with death, or imprisonment for life, and shall also be liable for fine."
"Indirectly"? Oh, are you talking about my photo of my dog dressed up as Mohammed that I posted on my Facebook page? (It was Draw Mohammed Day, in celebration of Western values and freedoms, and well, I don't draw.)

"...shall be punished with death, or imprisonment for life, and shall also be liable for fine."
After the first two, the fine seems kind of superfluous.

How can they call this the Religion of Peace without laughing out loud?

When was the last time Pakistan produced anyone noteworthy? Right. This would be why. The U.S. attracts geniuses, and Pakistan attracts ... Al Qaeda. That's okay, you bunch of Renaissance men, now run along and play in the sand.
Pirate Jo at June 29, 2010 7:31 AM
And Pakistan wants Interpol to do the work of arresting mister Zuckerbrrg. That's just some lazy jihad, there.

Pakistan produced one of the great physicists of the 20th century, Abdus Salam. He shared a well-earned Nobel Prize in physics with Sheldon Glashow & Sreven Weinberg in 1979, making him the only Pakistani, and one of only 2 Muslims worldwide, to ever win a Nobel Prize in science.
But he was an Ahmadi, a sect condemned as heretics by other Muslims, and subjected to murderous persecution (you probably heard about the Lahore massacre last month, when nearly 100 Ahmadis were shot dead & blown up in their mosque). So there are no monuments to him in his native country, no schools or universities named after him, his grave has been desecrated, and his hometown were he was buried next to his parents has been renamed to erase him from history:

Jeez, Martin. That makes me feel much worse than if they had never produced any scientists at all.

It's ironic that, between the fall of the Roman Empire and the rise of Islam, the Arab world was the repository of a lot of the world's scientific knowledge. For instance, pre-Islam Arabs advanced the science of astronomy; even today, a lot of the common names we use for the most prominent stars in the Northern Hemisphere are derived from Arabic words.

After Charles Martels' victory, and especially after the death of al Ghazali (the only cause and effect is prayer) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al-Ghazali)
around 1100, Islam has stood still in time.

A Pakistani court wants to kill the CEO of Facebook?
They're gonna have to wait in line behind everyone who couldn't stop the Farmville or Mafia Wars updates, everyone who ended up with a public site because they couldn't keep up with the latest privacy settings changes, and everyone who found their Facebook page linked to a gazillion pages just because they went to high school with someone who "likes" that page.
Conan the Grammarian at June 29, 2010 4:32 PM
Conan, that's hilarious. My nerdy IT sweety has this to say about him:
"He did create something neat, but he has gone on to pervert it from a social networking site (innovative, useful) to a data mining / data sharing endeavor driven solely by advertising revenue and selling people's information (hardly innovative, or useful, unless you're one of the people getting rich). If he still gave a shit about Facebook being good at what it was originally conceived to do, I wouldn't slander him every chance I get. He's a douchenozzle. Oh, and he thinks most of Facebook's users are too stupid to make decisions about their own information. Never seen a CEO talk so insultingly about users of their product (well, maybe tobacco). So he's a douchenozzle and an asshole. Dangerous combination."
Pirate Jo at June 29, 2010 5:06 PM
Well, PJ, you just made me go back and check my FB privacy settings. Thanks for the reminder!

I have a friend who tries to defend Islam. I'm going to have to pass this on to her.

Hysterical: "defiles the sacred name of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) shall be punished with death, or imprisonment for life, and shall also be liable for fine."
I like that the "(Peace Be Upon Him) is immediately followed with "shall be punished with death..."
That's one hell of a religion you assholes have there. Total hypocrisy. Let me put my Inigo Montoya voice on: "You keeping saying that word, Peace. I do not think it means what you think it means."
I keep hearing that it's just the Muslim extremists that are so violent and mainstream Islam isn't like this. But we're talking about the Pakistani court here... So Pakistan is indeed part of the Muslim extremist philosophy that is at war with the west, so can we officially name Pakistan in our GWOT?
Mark at July 1, 2010 12:25 PM
(Peace Be Upon Him)
Do you always begin conversations this way?
Those jihadists,
they make a .... fuss
I think they like to yell ... at us!
