Obama Turns Velvet Underground Drummer Into A Tea Partier
Rosie Swash writes for the Guardian about Maureen "Moe" Tucker's shift:
"Anyone who thinks I'm crazy about Sarah Palin, Bush, etc has made quite the presumption," Tucker told the Riverfront Times music blog. "I have voted Democrat all my life, until I started listening to what Obama was promising and started wondering how the hell will this utopian dream-land be paid for? For those who actually believe that their taxes won't go up in order to pay for all this insanity: good luck!"...Tucker also said she is "amazed" that her interview was so widely criticised: "I'm stunned that so many people who call themselves liberal yet are completely intolerant. I thought liberals loved everyone: the poor, the immigrant, the gays, the handicapped, the minorities, dogs, cats, all eye colours, all hair colours! Peace, love, bull!"
She continues: "You disagree and you're immediately called a fool, a Nazi, a racist. That's pretty f'd up! I would never judge someone based on their political views. Their honesty, integrity, kindness to others, generosity? Yes. Politics? No!"

Except that she's not a Tea Partier.
From the article: Asked about her involvement with the Tea Party, Tucker said: "I'm not 'involved' with the local movement. I went to the first Tea Party in June or July of 2009 because it was within striking distance and I wanted to be counted."

It seems this guy was entering a social workers office and lamented, "I'm so tired of collecting welfare! I'd do anything to find a job!"
The social worker replied, "You're in luck. It seems this billionaire is looking for a chauffeur/bodyguard for his nymphomaniac daughter. You would also be accompanying her on her annual European vacations, and you would live in an apartment above his garage. Uniforms are provided, as are two meals a day, and the salary is $100,000 a year."
The man was dumbfounded. "You're bullshitting me!" he gasped.
"Well, yeah," said the social worker. "But you started it."

It is funny how the liberal left (not regular people who are liberals, but the wacked out ones who seem to be in charge) attack people who disagree with them even a little bit.
I as amazed that so many people believed in Obama's promises. They were obvious pie in the sky.
I'd have liked to have voted for the first black president, except that in this case, I didn't think he was telling the truth or that he could accomplish it without massive taxes on the middle class.

"I'd have liked to have voted for the first black president,"
Why? Would you be equally eager to vote for the first woman/wiccan/buddhist/hispanic/kazakistanian/ etc? If not, is it because you feel less guilt where the latter are mentioned? Because personally, I'd like to vote for president with a brain. For once. But that's just me.

Heh. Right before Obaba got elected, someone on an elist I'm on, after I lamented the fact that too many people were drinking the Kool-Aid, wrote back to me "TRY it. It's HOPE-flavored."
I'd like to know how "hope-flavored" it is NOW.
And this: "I'm stunned that so many people who call themselves liberal yet are completely intolerant."
Yeah. There are too many liberals out there who have no tolerance for anyone other than themselves.
It amazes ME that those people who were pushing the Kool-Aid back then are still in denial that that shit is tainted.

Never heard of this woman, and there were a whole bunch of Velvet Underground albums in my childhood.
So what we got here is a seventh-tier rock star.
But it's amazing that everyone who seems to have heard of her presumed that she was a vegetable-grade lefty.
Or is there some reason not to have doubted it heretofore? Did the group campaign for Lindsay back in the day or something?
And do people assume that every celebrity for whom they might once have felt a passing affinity shares their political enthusiasms as well?

The comments in the Guardian article were a hoot, too, boiling down pretty much to, "those Yanks are a bunch of knuckle-dragging bigots, aren't they, and Maureen Tuckers old! And she wasn't very good, either!"
