Napolitano's Folly
Hey, Janet! Just saying things are rosy isn't the solution. Chris Elliott blogs that Napolitano had the nerve to say on a CNN "State of the Union" interview:
"Everything is objectively better than it was two years ago, particularly in the aviation environment."
Excuse me. My boyfriend is having his balls fondled by strange men in the airport every two weeks, we aren't the least bit safer, and things are "objectively better"? Right.
In case any of you missed it (and because it's just so great a remark, and one I hope you'll use), Gregg being Gregg, he wanted to say to the guy doing it, "You have beautiful eyes."
Here's the actual "objectively better" -- the way the Israelis do it, from a David Rose story in the Daily Mail.

Haha - "my boyfriend is having his balls fondled by strange men in the airport every two weeks" - this is why I read your blog. Classic.

The David Rose story - very interesting. Can it be far behind, then, that unsuspecting adults and/or child travelers would unknowingly have some sort of device attached to their person or their clothing/luggage, etc.? They would pass the security tests, because they wouldn't know they were carrying the weapon.
I realize it's kind of far-fetched that someone would be carrying a device and not know it, but when I read how these prospective tests are conducted, this is the first thing that came to mind. (Not that I think it's a bad idea, though - certainly better and more secure than what we are enduring now!)
Re: Napolitano - I don't know the official list, but I just bet she doesn't have to go through screening.

Remember when they used to ask
"Has anyone had access to your carryon's without your knowledge?"
How the hell can you answer that question if by definition you dont know?

I'm always amazed at the stupid that just gushes forth when Napolitano opens her mouth.

Here we go folks... TSA groping, not just for airlines anymore!

WE need to know the context. I mean if she is talking about the income for airlines then she is clearly correct. They financial environment for airlines is a lot better than two years ago.

Please - do any of you bother to read about this, say, in an Ask The Pilot column?
You can't get into the cockpit any more. You can't bring down an airliner with small-arms fire - it's never been done.
But what you can do is bend over for a government agent, believing that this somehow makes you safer.
It doesn't.
Read Patrick Smith and find out why!
