Politicians give speeches and make promises. Those actions are symbolic.
Votes are the essence of governing. Let the Democrats (and Republicans and Independents) running for office in 2012 give their votes and defend them, knowing now about ObamaCare.
A "useless" vote doesn't cost much and forces our politicians to take a formal position. It just might pass the Senate. Then Obama can give again his reasons for thinking his healthcare planis good.

Have to agree with Andrew -- even though symbolic -- it puts the the politicians on the map.
But at worst -- we can build a map of who to target in 2012. That was meant with all the sarcasm it can bear.
