Great old line left in the comments on a column by a little sense:
Saying "We can still be friends" after breaking up is like having your dog die and your mom saying you can still keep it.

I'm so glad to hear people talking sense on this. Dude-we broke up. I may wish you the best, or I may wish you death, but there's a reason we broke up. You were my BF, not my BFF, and breaking up means moving on out of my life.
