I was sitting on the front row for this presentation. Tom has the wonderful knack of talking **with** people without talking **down** to them, and with great humor, as well.
Tom Naughton is one of my favorite internet people. I also reccomend his lecture Big Fat Fiasco. And of course Fathead - the movie that started it all.

Unfortunately, my doctor has told me I must eat at least one whole fruit every day. She recommends pears and apples. She also suggested prunes, but I refuse to eat those. I live in Florida and I'm not eating anything that resembles a palmetto bug.

Funny. If this is for, um, making everything come out okay, all you need is the RDI of magnesium (Eades recommends this -- I'm just the parrot). Eades suggests taking it at bedtime, as it's a relaxant.
Thanks, darlin'. Me, too. It sucks. But if he says magnesium will do the work, I'll take that instead. I'd rather swallow a pill than make myself eat fruit every day. They gave me a couple of bottles of magnesium citrate. Ugh. Let's not take that any more. Tastes awful and staying that long on a commode that long leaves an unflattering imprint on my butt.

Sorry, didn't quite understand the hernia connection! Magnesium is AMAZING for its laxative effect. I take 400 whatever (it's measured in) nightly. It's a little over 100 percent of the US RDI. The epidemiologist I'm friends with cautions against buying vitamins made in China, which are most of them, by the way. I get some slightly more expensive hippie brands, forget which. They might have crap in them, but it's probably not lead or melamine!

Thanks for the reminder. I won't buy anything that goes in the body from China. I always look in the store. I didn't check my supplements. DOH!

Amy, what brand are you using, if you don't mind taking a peek at the bottles the next time you take them? I recently started taking vitamins and am looking for a good brand.

NOW Magnesium. And I take Biotech vitamin D (5,000 iu -- because I got my level tested after taking it for three or five months, can't remember, and it was what I needed). I also take krill oil.

Tell Dr. Eades I'm at home recovering from a hernia. Ask him what he says to that.
