Put The FCC Honchos To Good Use: Send Them Out To Clean Sewers
Your hard-earned taxpayer dollars are being used to urge the Supreme Court justices to take another look at Janet Jackson's nipple. From MSNBC:
The Federal Communications Commission filed an appeal to the Supreme Court yesterday requesting a review of a decision to throw out the agency's $550,000 fine against CBS over Janet Jackson's infamous "wardrobe malfunction" incident at the Super Bowl in 2004, Politico reports....The FCC is arguing that the Second Circuit court was wrong to deem their fleeting images' indecency policy to be "arbitrary and capricious," and that by misinterpreting their policy, the court "contravened settled principles governing the deference due to an administrative agency's reasonable understanding of its own decisions."
Oh, yawn.
If there's a single person in the USA who really cares, raise your hand. (In comments form.) And give us three good reasons why this is of great importance to you, and should be something our tax dollars are funding.

Television means so little to people nowadays that it's hard to imagine that government lawyers, EVEN government lawyers, are able to achieve an erection over their mutual paperwork for this thing.

So next we get to fund the time machine to go back and make sure this never happens. Or would that be happened?

I care about what is shown on TV to my small kids. We don't watch TV.
Check it out. I solved the problem with NO help from the government, no lawyers, and no courts. Also, it cost nothing to taxpayers and SAVED me money.
Cool.

At my house we have no TV or cable, but watch shows we'd want to on the internet. Even so I still pay much attention to what my teen watches, and she is really good about asking about shows she is not sure of. Love it. Really it's about communicating with your kids. However, this i feel is a waste of money and time. WHO CARES? Not me.!

I'd imagine that anyone who still gives a fig about this whole thing must live in small towns and/or the Bible Belt, and must not travel much. I don't want anyone showing their genitals to my toddler, but I really couldn't care less about boobs and booties. But let's be honest... isn't this about FCC lawyers justifying their employment? Then they either stay on the goverment tit forever with a cush retirement *or* use their time at the commission as a stepping stone to a high-paying specialty career.
There are plenty of cities (like Austin) where it's legal to be topless in public. People need to get over it. If you think it's a bad thing, explain to your kid WHY "we don't do that."
Last night on Fox (probably O'Reiley), they were going on and on about "Glee" promoting an "alternative lifestyle" and how it could cause teens to want to "experiment." Now, I only watch Fox to to get my heart rate up (too lazy to exercise), but I do wonder if their True Believer audience is who actually cares about this crap. I wasn't allowed to watch 90210 in middle school- is it really that impossible for some parents to establish boundaries?

They're still pursuing this after eight years? I think a certain regulatory agency is due for a budget cut.

"We don't watch TV."
I don't have windows. My neighbor put out his eyes. No price is too high to avoid this outrage!
Yeah, that's right, if you see something, like a dangly bit on a multimillionaire woman who cleans up nice and is seriously fit, you'll be scarred for life.
I am so glad to know this. If it were not for Janet Jackson, our Secret Servicemen would still be pure of heart!
I am personally fighting for my life after having seen a video of Kylie Minogue, whose legs should be subject to Concealed Carry regulations.
Whew.
