(FWIW, my favorite BW film composition to date is the CU of Renault in Rick's office. The white suit glows, the scrambled eggs on the hat are perfect, the right cheekbone gets only enough juice to share the actor's mood, and the lamp is like a fully grown elephant whispering over his shoulder. Gorgeous.)
