Idiocy From Airline Exec On TSA Policy To Allow Small Knives
Via the HuffPo/AP, Delta CEO Richard Anderson wrote to TSA thuggo-in-chief John Pistole to complain the new policy:
Richard Anderson's letter to TSA administrator John Pistole on Thursday says he shares the "legitimate concerns" of Delta flight attendants about the decision. He says allowing small knives will do little to speed up passenger screening -- but adds risk for cabin staff and passengers.
A question: In the years before we installed legions of unskilled workers to grope our genitals and policies prohibiting a war vet from bringing his commemorative pocketknife on the plane, exactly how many knifings were there in the air?

Hey, peasant, yer supposed to accept the puppy biscuit and be grateful for what they throw us.

Fedex, UPS and USPS biggest hit. My son had to send his by Fedex three times.

Seems to me there were a few flight attendants who got their throats cut with small knives and box cutters on September 11, 2001.

I've got some photos of loggers flying with chainsaw and axes.
I also recal airplanes being used as battering rams on sky scrapers. Should we ban airplanes and sky scrapers?
lujlp at March 11, 2013 12:59 PM
Conan beat me to it. I was going to point out that on September 10, 2001, you might have asked rhetorically, how many times have planes been hijacked, then flown into buildings?

And United Flight 93 crashed at 10:03:11, near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, ending any hope of terrorists using the same method for an attack ever again.

The knives are limited to 6 cm in size with no locking handles or kung fu grips. Not exactly dangerous weapons.

I can kill you with my hand faster than with the knives they are allowing. Should we remove hand as well?
Also the reason for the policy shift has jack shit to do with saftey and everything to with the fact that they cant stop it even if they wanted to
lujlp at March 11, 2013 6:20 PM
OMG! Someone might poke a hole in the side of the plane!

Don't be absurd! All they need to do is add handcuffs to every armrest.

Actually, I'm sort of embarrassed about this but I never questioned the box cutter theory. A quick google shows that the box cutters were what was actually used[1][2]. But I consider box cutters to be more of the disposable type.
Either way, short of getting enough firearms and rounds on an aircraft, there will not be another 9/11. And even then with the hardened cockpit doors it is doubtful. I would volunteer to be the first person in line to be shot or stabbed to take the terrorists down. If you have four to six terrorists against 60 other people trying to take them out who's going to win in the closed confines of an aircraft? The stack of 3 bodies on top of each terrorist would pretty much stop them.
The 9/11 attacks were a one shot thing. The terrorists used the expected in an unexpected way.
United Flight 93 proved that the once the passengers learned that the unexpected was happening the passengers adapted and overcame the terrorists.
If they knew as the attack started, they probably would have landed safely. The passengers were behind the power curve.
And if you don't believe me -- I want you to present evidence of every single terrorist hijacking attempt, let alone the erratic person, that has succeeded in running another plane into a skyscraper with a commercial flight since 9/11/2001.

Meant:
A quick google shows that the box cutters were never proven as what was actually used[1][2].

You are being idiots about this.
Sorry if I got you mad, but you are. You're obsessing about the minutiae, the details, and COMPLETELY MISSING THE POINT.
ALL of those items the TSA proudly points to as "evidence" that they are supplying you with "safety" flew on planes for more than 60 years.
Maybe you have been taught that only tools, like knives and guns - especially black guns - can be "evil". They are not.
And as long as you dwell on whether this or that thing is politically correct for some people to have, you will NEVER address the criminal element which uses those tools against you.

Don't forget that most flight crew are unionized, and the airline execs are catching hell from the unions on this. And like most of the unions, they are all in for Obama.

Rad,
Not arguing. You're right. But I still want someone to respond to my standard comment trying to say why I'm wrong.

For all you regular readers of the Goddess' blog you can skip past this post. I'm going to post my regular rant about not needing the TSA. For all you new readers, please read it carefully and refute any statement or misstatement. ;-)

The TSA was not needed one hour and one minute after Tower II was hit!
The paradigm, the norm, the expected, what everyone was taught to do was to sit down, shut up and wait for the plane to land and the negotiations happen. That was the model from Entebbe onward.
The passengers on board did not really know what was about to happen on September 11, 2001 at 8:46:30 when Flight 11 struck Tower I.
Even the passengers on Flight 175 probably didn't realize what was about to happen when they struck Tower II at 9:03:02.
The Pentagon crash of Flight 77 at 9:37:46 may have been still a matter of ignorance.
At 10:03:11 on September 11, 2001, United Airlines Flight 93 crashed after the brave souls counter-attacked and caused the hijackers to crash the plane.
The time difference is 60 minutes and 9 seconds from Tower II being struck to the crash of Flight 93. The shoe bomber and panty bomber were taken down by fellow passengers as well. Recently, JetBlue's Flight 191 pilot was taken down by the passengers once he was out of the cockpit. Additionally how many times have you heard of passengers' concerns and diverted flights?
The TSA is and has always been a joke, no make that a total stupidity, that has wasted our country's fortune going down a rabbit hole.
If you don't believe me look at the 9/11 timeline.
There will never be another 9/11 style attack unless the attackers can arrange planes full of geriatrics, and even then it would be doubtful.
Oh, and someone brought bombs being an issue. If bombs were effective and simple then the Lockerbie bombing would have been repeated multiple times between 21 December 1988 and 11 September 2001. That's 4647 days or 13 years. Where was the TSA in that time? There was one successful bombing that was done in Colombia and two unsuccessful attempts in that time. The bombing in Colombia was a drug dealer assassination and not a terrorist attack.

Please tell me where I'm wrong, or even right?
