Duck bacon sounds great. And Dartagnan anything is great. Dartagnan duck fat, for example. A friend who is a pro chef uses it.
The problem with turkey bacon is that it's about removing the fat from bacon. The fat is the point. The problem with cold cuts in stores -- among other things -- is that they have the fat sucked out. They are tasteless and pretty useless as food.
We love beef bacon but I can't find it in TO anywhere. I'll have to try duck bacon though. For fat I fry the turkey bacon in butter because otherwise its just sorta limp and soggy.

My sweetie brought some of this abomination home from the grocery store recently, free fortunately. Now being the dutiful ,and understanding, husband that I usually am, I gave it a try. I suggested that ,perhaps, if we cooked it in lard it might, might be palatable, might.

In college, I had a roommate who never took out the trash. She also cooked ground turkey all the time because it was "healthier."

Turkey bacon's not great Amy, but it could be far, FAR worse. Out there somewhere in the great Southern California wasteland, there's also...
TOFU bacon.

"Turkey bacon is a crime against bacon."
I always thought turkey bacon was a crime against cardboard.

Oh gods, soy bacon. I tried it once. It tasted the way dry dog food smells.
A complete waste as well. There's nothing like the original!

Unless you're allergic to pork, like my husband. Then turkey bacon is much better than it's anemic cousin chicken bacon.

Hey Nicky, did you know they make duck bacon? It's spendy but a nice treat when you want something tastier than turkey bacon.

There's beef bacon too, but it's not as amazing as the duck bacon in my opinion.
