A Man Can Be Too Clever For His Own Good
Me, concerned for boyfriend's health: "Honey, you need to exercise today for 10 minutes."
Boyfriend: "I am. I'm talking to you. I'm exercising restraint."

Of course, one can NEVER be angry at someone with that kind of quick wit.

cute response. but, seriously, all of us must exercise restraint much of the time during interactions with others, professionally and socially, especially our SOs. I regularly exercise restraint when talking to my wife about her uber self-centered 27 y/o daughter, obviously a touchy subject. the beauty of our relationship is that, for the most part, we speak freely to each other. if she disagrees with me, her usual response is "you're stupid" or "you're crazy", as we continue our 9-year honeymoon.

I follow the idea of Mark Twain: "When I feel the desire to exercise, I lie down until the feeling passes."
