Crid has linked to some wonderful Frank Zappa work.
Here's the band that opened for him - once - which situation Frank corrected by changing the bill so that HE opened for THEM: Mahavishnu Orchestra
YouTube quality is spotty with this band. Click around.

I do not have a psychiatrist and I do not want one, for the simple reason that if he listened to me long enough, he might become disturbed. -- James Thurber
First things first. I don't know that Zappa ever opened for Mahavishnu... In those years, he was making big teenager money from records about body odor and dental floss, whereas Mahavishnu was regarded as a specialty act for art schools and urban centers. But who knows... Hendrix opened for the Monkees, and Mahvishnu once appeared on a bill with Kiss.
On the larger point, Radwaste is indisputably correct. Ruthie tells the story (somewhere, not in that particular clip) of the first time Zappa walked into a performance of Cobham with Mahavishnu, and felt that hurricane of sound roaring off the stage at him…

…Despite a lifelong distrust of jazz impulses, Zappa understood immediately this music was a vein of ore worth mining. This is his most McLaughlin-y work.
(And I like that more than anything by JM, too.)

Secondly....
Hi Amy! We need to talk about those pesky Moozlims—
■ Establishes that the brothers were heirs to a pattern of violence and dysfunction running back several generations. Their father, Anzor, scarred by brutal assaults in Russia and later in Boston, often awoke screaming and tearful at night. Both parents sought psychiatric care shortly after arriving in the United States but apparently sought no help for Tamerlan even as his mental condition grew more obvious and worrisome.
■ Casts doubt on the claim by Russian security officials that Tamerlan made contact with or was recruited by Islamist radicals during his visit to his family homeland.
This is something we all need to bear in mind in the years ahead, m'kay? There's more to life —and more to evil— than religion... Even for atheists.
Also, from now on, the honkin' black square ("■") will be my second-favorite blog-comment attention-getting device... Standing right behind my own compelling insights, which no man can ignore.
I had the chance to see the One Truth band in Pacific Beach at the Roxy Theatre. From the front row, just 10 feet away, I found it impossible to tell how McLaughlin played the improbable arrangements I heard.
Now, I'm not a guitarist, so I figured it was just some flaw in my observational skills. Years later, I saw an interview with Paco DeLucia, and was astonished to find out that he could not tell how John played that stuff.
It is a lovely thing to see the evidence of a lifetime of hard work and study on the part of such an artist.

Of course there is, but no religion provides such excellent justification for people, who might otherwise have been reasoned with, to do evil.
