Kudos to the young veteran for taping this and not responding to inappropriate behaviour. How do we stop this type of LEO attitude - it's okay to do whatever I want.
Further proof that Our Gracious Hostess moved to the right location: According to The Weather Channel web site, the current temperature in our little patch of the NoVa is 12 degrees. The only consolation is that the snow, which was forecast to be quite heavy, only delivered two or three inches. I understand that Maryland got hit pretty hard, though.
ORDaddy, I spun my car around on I-95 yesterday on my way home. No injuries, no one else involved, no damage to the jersey barrier, but yeah, my beloved Kia is totaled. Then to add insult to injury, the stookit tow-truck driver (flatbed actually) lost the damn keys. Good thing I had a spare at home. Just got back from the garage after clearing out all of my personal belongings. It's 7 degrees here in sunny New Haven, CT.
Dang.

Aw man, Flynne, that's scary! I'm just glad you weren't hurt. Sorry about the Kia, though; We have two of them ourselves and like them a lot.
I-95 out here wasn't too bad. Could East Coasters start referring to themselves as Ninety-Fivers?

Some interesting comments on the Gadgeteer article, some of which even seemed pertinent to the point at hand. Some people thought the guy was a douche for wearing his Google Glasses (or whatever they're called) into the theater in the first place, while others suggested that if you wanted to record something in the theater, the Google device would be a pretty poor way to do it. Yet others actually understood that, while illicit recording might be a particular problem in this particular cineplex, AMC and DHS found a particularly ham-handed way of addressing the problem.
One thing I don't understand: How much does the movie business really lose from illicit recordings in theaters? Do lots of people really want to watch a recording taken from somebody's cell phone? Why would they, if the movie will come out on Netflix or Redbox in a short time anyway?

Flynne, wow. Glad you're OK. We aren't a lot warmer in north Alabama -- 30F right now, expecting about 10F tomorow night. Some of my colleagues are in Syracuse right now, though. Brrrr...

Presentation on sex and sexuality in the Arab world. Given by a self described Muslim Egyptian from Canada. Brief mention of beastiality generally, but no discussion of Sasquatch porn specifically.
Gov't IDs easy to get.
No worries 'bout voter ids.
No worries about good paying gov't jobs.
Get hurt? Here's a SSI card.
Let the good times roll here in the USA.

But here are some nice shots from The Weather Channel site, showing the storm's impact. Some are quite pretty.
East Coast commenters: How did you fare?
