Between the befuddled Senators and Delegates, a political pressure group, and a miffed Japanese government, Governor McAuliffe probably needs an Excedrin. All this is over a bit of wording in Virginia school textbooks.
Well, nobody made him sign up for this. At least I don't think anybody did.

Is this an East/West Coast thing?
Thinking that guys that are outdoorsy/physical hard work (fly-over States) mentality would LOL at the thought of signing up for critical review by non-significant others.
It shouldn't take too many dates before you realize that dating (not getting laid but true dating) is hard (need to know yourself, need to figure out if they know themselves, is everyone being honest here, etc.).
No surprise really; but read some of the comments. Most are in favor of Dr. Rice to be the speaker.
Personally, I think Rutgers should consider itself lucky that a former Sec. of State will "lower" herself to speak at their state-run school. As an alumnus I can say; Hey Rutgers, you ain't Harvard!
But, I didn't think too highly of many of the faculty while I was there, so this is all of little surprise. Pigs feeding at the public trough do tend to get rather fat and full of themselves.

Speaking of retail, it's something I haven't paid in years. My fabulous purple fleece that I write in just had its zipper eaten by the dryer. I learned that I can wear a child's 14-16 after I found one at the Salvation Army in that size that fit perfectly. I hopped on to eBay, and in about five minutes, had bought and paid for a new one in green and bid on one in purple. Both are around $5 or $6, and shipping's about $6 -- to have them delivered right over my fence at home. I'm sure they're $30 or $40 retail. I don't need new. I just need warm in a pretty color.
I buy toner on eBay and save enormously. $15 for an off-brand of the $92 HP toner.

Is that laser or ink?
Talk to Gregg about getting a color laser. Even the color laser toner cartridges come out in the $0.03 page range anymore. And they last substantially longer.

Why bring in this type of attitude?

Rutgers invites Condi Rice to be the commencement speaker, so, of course, some are outraged:

Late, lamented retailers who vanished in the last fifteen years or so. Most of these I remember, but not all. How about you?

What that town needs is an open-air urinal.
And people ask me why I moved.
