Your Teenager Is Either In A Gang Or Is Just A Teenager

@Popehat
2/3 of the warning signs on the "Parents' Guide to Gangs" describe normal teenagers. Being a Kansas City Royals fan?
A few excerpts:
Negative changes in behavior, such as;Withdrawing from the family.
Declining school attendance, performance, or behavior.
Staying out late without a reason.
Unusual desire for secrecy.
Confrontational behavior, such as talking back, verbal abuse, name calling, and disrespect for parents authority.
Changes in attitude about school, church, or other normal activities or change in behavior at these activities.
Drastic changes in hair or dress style;Or having a group of friends who have the same hair or dress style.

Being a Kansas City Royals fan?
Well I can see why someone who is a KC fan would be angry considering the teams' record. ;-)
Most of it sounds like being a normal teen. I'm going to call it stupidity of the highest order.
When can we get a visit from Capt. Trips?

Is it just me or do half of those sound like a teen with a girlfriend/boyfriend they don't want to show mom?

Jim, I was just thinking that wearing Royals' jerseys doesn't exactly inspire fear in the hearts of rival gangs. Another sign of America's decline... even our gangs are pathetic!

Unusual desire for secrecy.
Well, it's that or jackin' it in San Diego.
Wut? I didn't link to the South Park scene...

I'm fairly certain these are the exact same warning signs parents were told to look for as signs of drug use when I was a teen in the 90s.

When I was a teenage goth hanging out in Harvard Square, the cops thought we were a gang. It was a bit bizarre.

Sounds like normal teen behavior to me.
I think the Royals' jersey is like wearing pink... he is willing to wear that wimpy/girlish/whatever item around here? Must be tough. /notserious

And just what are the chances that the single mothers of kids most likely to join gangs would be reading any of this?
And what are the chances that the fathers of kids most likely to join gangs are either in the gang themselves or are not involved in any way in their kids lives?

I remember listening to the anti-gang task force.
Does your child have a favorite color? Does he hang out with three or more people? If so, then by our definition, he is a member of a gang.
I would be more worried if my son didn't fit that criteria for a gang member.

Would these guys qualify as gang members?
