The overwhelming majority of Christians I have engaged in conversation with do not believe in God – they believe in the Bible. Yes, there is a difference. You can see which one they defend with a few simple questions about the physical world.

Somehow I get along fairly happily without a belief in the Flying Spaghetti Monster or any other deity.
Granted I would probably be happier if I hit the lottery for millions, but otherwise, I can handle my life without a god in it.

We were visiting the boyfriend's parents this weekend, which automatically means I had to go to church. This very topic is comes up often in the homily -- the idea that, no matter what you do, how you spend your time, it is meaningless unless you accept Jesus, blah blah blah
I get nothing out of attending church. I sit for an hour and daydream about the things I'd rather be doingt. I find meaning and fulfillment in the martial art I practice, the volunteer work I do for homeless animals, the time I spend with friends or hiking alone, travel, the language-learning groups I'm part of, and the help I give to loved ones or charities when they need it.
Religion is one VERY legitimate route to finding meaning in life (and the way people are often inspired to improve themselves and their world), but not the ONLY one.

God has his own personal torture pit.
What does that tell you?

That if God, is a figment of your imagination, so is his personal torture pit?
