Either way, Amy, you're dealing with recalcitrant kids!

Oh, Patrick, how could I not have thought of that.
And actually, a Facebook friend raises goats, and the other day, had a post about "kids for sale."
I restrained myself.

an early-morning goat slaughter
An apt description. I vividly remember the last time I heard a kid throwing a major tantrum. It was in our local Safeway store and the kid was screaming bloody murder.

Oh, hell. Like none of us ever pitched a fit when we were two. Socialization comes at different times. My kid used to scream so hard sometimes I was jealous. He felt things. He turned out fine.

And this child is allowed to just scream and scream and scream his little guts out. No telling him, "We don't do this to get our way." Nope. The message is: "Do whatever you want, kid. See if you can shatter glass."
