Barbaric: "Stone The Gays" Law To Phased In In Brunei Starting May 1

The Sultan of Brunei has confirmed that a law calling for homosexuals to be stoned to death will be phased in from tomorrow. [May 1]The law was announced earlier this month, and replaces the maximum ten-year prison sentence for homosexuality with death by stoning.
...Despite the delays, the Sultan today confirmed the law, which will apply to both Muslims and non-Muslims, will be phased in over a two-year period from tomorrow.
He said: "Today, I place my faith in and am grateful to Allah the almighty to announce that tomorrow, Thursday 1 May 2014, will see the enforcement of Sharia law phase one, to be followed by the other phases."
...Under the law, the death penalty can be applied for rape, adultery, sodomy, extramarital sexual relations for Muslims, insulting any verses of the Quran and Hadith, blasphemy, declaring oneself a prophet or non-Muslim, and murder.
P.S. It's a little hard to "Co-Exist!" if you're stoned to death.
Apparently, you won't be stoned to death for being gay if you stay at the Beverly Hills Hotel, Le Meurice, or other fine hotels owned by the Sultan -- so announced the management. (Isn't that big of them?!)

I understand that drivers commanding this of everyone behind them have good intentions. They do. I know some of them. But they are paving the road with those good intentions. I also know it's hard to argue with good intentions without sounding like you're just an angry soul looking to gripe against peace and happiness and rainbows.

How do you "phase in" a law like this? Start with stoning til you break a rib, then escalate?

Hold the phone. Does that say at the end there that the penalty for declaring oneself a non-Muslim is death? That sounds pretty darn serious to me.

I'm pretty sure the declaration of non-Muslim status resulting in death is for current muslims, not infidels. In which case they move up to the level of apostate, and apostates are to be put to death.
Of course, this explains why I have no desire to travel to any muslim majority country. It isn't because I don't like brown people, it's because I'm rather attached to my head and would like it to stay that way.
And regarding COEXIST, remember that I have stated in the past that the C is like a PacMan, trying to eat everything else.

@ I R A Darth Aggie: Yes, but the devil's in the detail. Specifically, in this case, how one defines "current Muslim".
My parents are now long dead, but one was a liberal Muslim, the other a Christian. I was raised Christian and still am today. However under most, if not all, interpretations of Sharia, I'm an apostate and subject to the death penalty.
I guess Brunei's off my list of potential vacation spots.
