The Right Scoop notes that the guy running the show in the jihadi takeover of Iraq was released by the US in 2009.
Colin Freeman writes at the Telegraph/UK of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi's leading al-Qaeda-linked militants toward the Iraqi capital:

Apparently, he's now filthy rich, having allegedly looted $429 million out of an Iraqi facility recently over run.
Of course, I wasn't there, I didn't see them take the money, and it could have been looted by the fleeing Iraqi officials, who can blame the missing money on al-Baghdadi.
How convenient...

Yes. I need a plane ticket, a shotgun and half an hour to walk from cell to cell. Yes.
Except that the Taliban only wanted the five commanders and shewed no interest in any of the remaining prisoners. Or so i have read: they are third string riff-raff and generic losers who would make fine suicide bombers but are nothing special. Shooting them all would make us look evil, scary, ruthless and formidable. I expect the Current President to let them all go by January of 2017 and promote the opposite impression.
But yeah, I've got Sunday afternoon free.
