Only in America, do you have a German coach with German players and nobody says anything about it.
And did you people see Ochoa block 4 fucking goals agaisnt Brazil, against Neymar?
We don't usually get the privilege of watching Messi.
I know many people think it sucks because it ain't an American thing, but it should be an American thing.
(Christiano Ronaldo was named after Ronald Reagan cuz it was his alcoholic dads favorite actor.)

I am a fan of several sports with Football (American type) being my favorite. I don't hate soccer but I have very little interest in it. Most Americans have very little interest in it. My question is, why should it be an American thing? There are many games that are popular other places that are not popular here. Yes, soccer is the most popular sport world wide but I still fail to see why that means it should necessarily have great interest to Americans.
Let me also be cleat that not having interest does not mean I hate it or ridicule those who do like it. I'm pretty much live and let live with sports.

Reagan's father was alcoholic. All of life's a circle.
I don't follow the game closely, though if I come across a match on television I'll watch it. Like Causticf, I'd prefer to watch other sports.
Which doesn't mean I have anything against soccer. It would be kind of neat to see it catch on more in this country, and I'm sure there's room for it alongside other sports here.

One of the things HUGE in the rest of the world is professional motorcycle racing. The equivalent of Formula 1, MotoGP features ~217 MPH top speeds and risks that would cause a seizure in a NASCAR fan used to armored cars going around an oval.
Fans pack Daytona-sized tracks in more than a dozen other nations, but the market has been neglected here. It's only gotten worse recently for bike fans in the USA, as Bill France's Daytona Motorsports Group has taken the domestic racing scene to the dumpster in a forthright demonstration of not understanding the damned difference between bikes and cars.

I'm not much into it, but I was watching when the US let the lead go in the last 30 seconds on Sunday.
My husband records the games and fast-forwards through them. Then he goes back and watches the goals. And the Kia commercials. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHhFGu4ZuTc

All those forrinn soccer animals cheat: Their goalies are mutants!
I'm not sure it's possible for me to care less about watching other people get paid huge amounts of money to play a game.
I'd rather watch (or even re-watch) a Movie, TV show or play a game than bother with watching sports.
I'll see something live on rare occasions when it's an excuse to do something with family or friends, or see some sports on TV at family gatherings (because the others watch) but that's about it.
So of course I had to link to this.

I love soccer, especially the World Cup. It's alot of fun.
You have a guy dressing up as Teddy Roosevelt showing up at every game, http://i.imgur.com/GJyFItc.jpg
