Woman Gets Man Arrested For Bad Attitude
From Fark, an AP story says a Connecticut man, 49, was arrested and arraigned on charges of threatening and disorderly conduct after a woman told police -- yes -- that he stabbed a watermelon with a knife in a passive-aggressive manner.
More here.
On the surface, this seems funny, but it should be scary to anyone who cares about civil liberties that we are now locking people up in cages over an interpretation of what their watermelon slicing supposedly really means.

She searches through his stuff, takes photos of unidentifiable pills, tries to get him arrested on drug charges. He stabs watermelons in suggestive manners.
Oh, these two have a great relationship...

Patriarchy in action.

Also racism -- the watermelon clearly represents his hatred of black people. Trial's too good for him.

Geez...I probably should be serving a life sentence for bad attitude.

Jeez...I thought at least he had passive-aggressively stabbed the watermelon in front of her, but it was just sitting on the counter.

So, if someone licks their ice cream cone in a suggestive manner, can they be charged with threatening rape?

Difficult to say but what she's doing sounds like it might be a case of 'abuse by proxy' - where an abuser uses the authorities as a 'tool' of abuse against their victim.

"Sometimes when I feel like killing someone, I do a little trick to calm myself down. I'll go over to the persons house and ring the doorbell. When the person comes to the door, I'm gone, but you know what I've left on the porch? A jack-o-lantern with a knife stuck in the side of its head with a note that says "You." After that I usually feel a lot better, and no harm done."

... your very existence as a man threatens rape. Didn't you get the memo?

So now you can be arrested based on what someone thinks you are thinking?
Jay at July 16, 2014 1:16 PM
It wasn't even an aggressive manner that was cited, but passive-aggressive.
definition from Google:
"a type of behavior or personality characterized by indirect resistance to the demands of others and an avoidance of direct confrontation"
dictionary.com:
"marked by the expression of negative emotions in passive, indirect ways"
World English Dictionary (also dictionary.com):
"of or relating to a personality that harbours aggressive emotions while behaving in a calm or detached manner"
Given these definitions, this implies it is criminal to feel angry or aggressive and not act overtly angry or aggressive, to include avoiding conflict and acting calm.
This is as bad as using "literally" to mean "figuratively," but with much worse implications.

See "hate crime". How that's different from "thought crime" has yet to be explained to me.

If passive aggression were a crime, my dad would have long ago gotten the electric chair.

Very true. Sorry, I forgot about the memo. And acting more flamboyantly and wearing "Pride Wear" wouldn't exonerate me either.

If they live together, this might have something to do with the mandatory arrest law they have in CT (Connecticut) leftover from earlier versions of VAWA http://www.saveservices.org/.../why-did-vawa-change-from.../ Maybe cutting of watermelon was the closest thing the police could find to an assault here.

Really, I mean REALLY?? Arrested for stabbing a watermelon? What's next, having a woman call the police to arrest her husband/boyfriend if he says something mean to the woman?
I could see this crap happening in North Korea, but here in the U.S.? Beyond insane. The inmates are running the Psychiatric Hospital.

Wait til Halloween comes. Woe to any man who carves a pumpkin.
Myself, I'm going to wear a passive-aggressive costume... I'll dress up as Glasshole.
