While we can be reasonably certain all the elements of this photo were present in the scene, the depth of the color palette seems really improbable.

Well, something good happened in Ferguson. The good Reverend Jesse Jackson showed up and solicited donations … for his own church and was reportedly booed right off the stage.
A variation on the Nigerian Bank Scam, where the scammers pose as soldiers. Remarkably, some folks fall for it, expending tens of thousands in the process.

At first I thought the odd appearance was a matter of perspective.
Zero to 60 in 3.2 seconds, weighs as much as a mid-size sedan, handles like a motorcycle.

Something happened when you were 8... Something punishing, something hurtful, something too poignant for words... Some measure of cruelty or misfortune, and it doesn't matter what, really... But it happened to you.
Yet you chose to carry on, to live with the burden, to move forward. The pivotal moment of spiritual annealing came that one night the next weekend... Under uncharacteristically severe rainshowers... The sky was roiling, gales lashed your face with stinging pellets of water, thunder rolled across the valleys as muscular bolts of lightning mocked the flickering streetlamps... But you climbed that hill, shook your fist at the scowling Heavens, and shouted a solemn promise for yourself into the uncaring storm... You promised that no matter what —no matter who stood in your way— One day, you were going to be 9.
You've become the man you wanted to be. You're nine.

Via Campus Reform, a remarkable admission from a U.S. Civil Rights Commissioner: College students might not be "developed" enough to handle the First Amendment.
Do read the linked Volokh post in the CR article; it gives a little better context.

Seriously, look at this thing again.
I think this guy made his career last night. Probably ought just quit and start teaching somewhere.

Aww, Don Pardo has passed on.
Zappa made legendary use of the man on SNL.

Dearest Amy-readers:
Please note, if you will, the pooched-out succulence of his insolent, pouting rictus.
Pardo appeared onstage for the '76 NYC show. The audience ate it up, and Don himself was delighted.

The word that you're looking for in this article but can't find is "father."
The woman with the oh-so-clear-hearted sense of justice for her own son is counting on the rest of us to bear hug him into manhood.
We'd rather not be bothered.
