Twitter (etc.) was all about Ferguson on Wednesday night. It's a mess.
Now, twitter is no less deceptive a news source than was the CBS Nightly News of 1965...
But it's at least possible that America will come out of this summer with a better understanding of why police (and implicitly, other government authorities) are not to be trusted without oversight and consequences for failure.
Well, can we now "diagnose" this suicide based on word of his crippling & progressive neurological disorder? Or is that off-limits too?
Celebrities enjoy lives of tremendous comfort because of the attention we give to them when they're happy and well. They can often earn some of that wealth by their conduct in our view when the world turns ugly... Because it always does.
Here's a rerun, because all of life's a circle:
Remember when Cosby's son was murdered? He'd been famous for thirty or forty years at that point, and it happened the same week he was convincingly accused of adultery. His wife came off the rails a little bit. But on that first night, Cosby walked out of his brownstone through the most intense burst of flashbulbs I've ever seen with his back straightened. He was hurting and he was somber, but he wasn't bitter about the press being there. I think he understood that having made such a good living being watched while he was happy, people had some right to see how he handled grim stuff.
I didn't know it was HC, it was just the first thing in the 'trite' bowl when I reached across the desk... Could just as easily have gone with "Everything happens for a reason," or the universally appropriate "There's a force in the universe that makes things happen." I always hated the guy. I remember the first time he was on TV, and his compassionate denim adorableness was so pure that I thought 'This guy is going to be a problem.'
Turned out it wasn't.
C'mon, Amy... Nobody's interest here was medical. Gossip is righteously disdained when it'S malicious... But Williams wasn't in our social circles.
He'd nonetheless done very well by us. How much money had the average blog visitor sent in his direction, adding up tickets, movie rentals, cable bills and commercial impressions? Average $80? More? Less?
The RAD Act, or “Regulatory Agency Demilitarization Act,” intends to “prohibit certain Federal agencies from using or purchasing certain firearms, and for other purposes.”
The RAD Act would stop any federal regulatory agency from purchasing or even using a firearm within thirty days of its enactment. In addition, the act would require every federal agency to submit to Congress a report which includes “Each federal agency, including the office of the Inspector General for the federal agency, that has specialized units that receive special tactical or military-style training or use hard-plated body armor, shields, or helmets and that respond to high-risk situations that fall outside the capabilities of regular law enforcement officers, including any special weapons and tactics (SWAT) team, tactical response teams, special events teams, special response teams, or active shooter teams.”

Reports disagree on this one - but if it's true, bracelets about treating depression are beside the point, don't you think?

Jd--- The man wasn't "forced" to badly bungle the most powerful intimacy of his life.... TWICE.
Yours is a very shaky appreciation of libertarianism... It's about more than name-dropping, buddy.

It was Al Jazeera's camera crew...
Fuck 'em. They have more access to the United States than CNN has to the streets of Qatar.

OK, "Fuck 'em" may be a little harsh, but....

Hello, would you like to give our church your phone number?
Or we can beat you to death in a McDonald's while patrons record it on their phones.

Only an asshole and an idiot "diagnoses" a person's depression via speculation about their finances in the press.
The bracelets, furthermore, are about destigmatizing depression.
Any more cheap shots/low blows to present before I take my nap?

Are you really quoting Harry Chapin as a supporting point?
